The week before
April 24th, the Armenian Cultural Association, along with members
of the Armenian community of Austin, got together on a Saturday
afternoon and built a miniature replica of the Armenian Genocide
monument-Tzitzernagabert. The monument was placed out on the UT
campus, in the West Mall, facing Guadalupe Street, a highly populated
area during the day. Flyers were put out next to the monument,
explaining the meaning behind Tzitzernagabert, as well as information
about the Genocide. On the night of the 24th, the Armenian community
held a candle-light service, remembering the victims of the Genocide
during World War I.
