Seminars UT-Austin Exam-Prep Seminar for Joint Exam FM

Saturday April 22 - Sunday April 23

The University of Texas Actuarial Science Club is sponsoring a cost effective, 2-day exam-prep seminar for the joint SOA/CAS Course FM actuarial exam. Dr. Ana Neira, an actuary from Mercer San Francisco branch will be leading this seminar. She has taught several exam-prep seminars in the past and has also received many good reviews from the participants. Attendance is limited to 50 (40 UT Students and 10 non-students). Attendees should also be familiar with the important concepts and techniques used to solve problems on the exam. If you have questions about the seminar beyond the information here, address them to the club's Vice President, Jana Sax at Janasax@gmail.com

You do not have to be a club member to register. Friday, January 13th is the postmark deadline for both UT and non-UT Students to register. Due to postal delay, if you do not mail your application in time, please email Jana Sax at janasax@gmail.com and let her know you have registered.

Format Each day's session will consist of:
  • Demonstration of problem solving by Ana Neira (with explanations of concepts and approaches)
  • Guided practice solving problems (you work on the problem, with optional guidance)
Schedule Sessions will run from 9 AM to 5 PM on Saturday and from 9 AM to 3 PM on Sunday. Except for an initial half-hour orientation Saturday morning, each day will be broken into one-hour problem sessions with 5-minute breaks in between. There will be a one-hour break for lunch (there are a few quick-lunch spots nearby).
Materials Participants will be e-mailed a link to access the materials for printing.
