Corporate Support:

Meetings – We have bi-weekly meetings on Fridays at 3:00 PM. This is the best way to reach our 250 members because we usually have great turnout. Meeting hosts pay for the cost of food, and any additional donations they wish to make, as well as give a presentation about their company during the meeting. Our members typically show an interest in socializing and asking additional questions after the general meeting, so we love for you to stick around!

Corporate Luncheons – These can be scheduled any day of the week, usually around noon or 1:00 PM. Luncheon hosts pay for the cost of food and any additional donations they wish to make, as well as give a presentation about their company. We advertise these luncheons by sending out an e-mail to our list serve and posting signs around the classrooms. If you decide to sponsor a corporate luncheon, we would encourage you to search through the resumes on the College of Engineering’s career website (ECAC) so that you can target specific students and inform them about the luncheon.

McKetta’s Picnic – This is our largest event each semester, and it is open to all of the students and faculty. We hold it in honor of our famous benefactor and former faculty member John J. McKetta. The picnic is usually held at Town Lake on a Saturday and involves fajitas, bat races, raffle drawings, and lots of other fun activities. It is a great way to socialize with our students on a more informal level. Check our calendar to see if this semester’s McKetta’s Picnic is still in need of a supporter.

Nationals – Every year we take members to the AIChE National Conference, but the number of people that we can bring heavily depends on your support!
Our National sponsors receive recognition in our Venturi newsletter, on our web page, and on the shirts that we wear throughout the National conference. We are continually saving for Nationals throughout the year, and if you fund any of our events we appreciate your added generosity, as it will typically be allocated for this cause.
Attending the National Conference is a great opportunity for our members to learn more about the research and career possibilities available to a chemical engineer. We are able to learn from the successes of other AIChE chapters, and come away with fresh ideas and an enthusiastic outlook. Some of the events in which we participate include paper competitions, and the Chem-E-Car competition. There are also available workshops on topics ranging from management careers in Chemical Engineering and job search strategies, to graduate/professional school and becoming a PE. We want as many of our members as possible to get the chance to be a part of such a positive experience.

Other – We are always open to new suggestions or events. If there is another way in which you would like to contribute, and hopefully form a lasting partnership with our AIChE student chapter, please let us know!
