Bharatanatyam – The oldest and the most popular of all classical dance forms from India, Bharatanatyam is known as a dance of the body and soul. It uplifts the dancer and the beholder to a higher level of spiritual consciousness. The dancer is considered a worshiper of the Divine, an embodiment of beauty, charm, and gracefulness.
Fusion – Originating from the temples of India, the face of Bharatanatyam is slowly changing as artists seek to explore new boundaries and interpretations. Shobana and her accomplished troupe present Bharatanatyam to Flamenco music, Caribbean music and Western Classical music.
Drama - Based on the epic Ramayana, unconventional twists in the tale make “Maya” the magical performance that it is. Voice-overs by eminent artistes such as Naseeruddin Shah, Jackie Shroff, Revathy, Suhasini Maniratnam, Milind Soman and Rohini lend color to the presentation.
Film Music – Indian films and film music have been popular across the world for decades. “Maya” presents classical and fusion dance set to popular Indian film beats.
All funds raised from this event will go towards development projects in India.
