"If you haven't heard a thing or two about Austin in recent years, crawl out from under your rock. In the early 1990s, Austin usurped Seattle's reign as Hip Town, USA. ... As the 'Live Music Capital of the World,' ... become the de facto cultural center of Texas, if not of the entire Southwest." - Lonely Planet on Austin

Getting to Austin

1. Plane
Austin is not a hub of any major airline. Therefore, flying to Austin is usually more expensive than flying to nearby cities, such as Dallas (200 miles), Houston (150 miles) or San Antonio (100 miles). If you fly to other cities, we suggest that either you coordinate with AID chapters in those cities or arrange your own transportation to the venue.
