Compassion wherever there is suffering. Conviction that the compassion is strong enough to eliminate suffering. Courage to make this conviction a reality. This is AID.

Creating resource materials

AID has been working closely with a large number village and city schools and educational programmes. AID has also been working on health education, science communication and educating people on a wide variety of issues that affect them.  A number of organizations that we work closely with have requested us to produce good quality educational materials - in the form of small booklets, pamphlets, posters, videos, slides, etc.

AID volunteers from all chapters have come together to form the Eureka Education Network - with a focus on continuous production of good quality but cheap materials which can be widely used in our field programmes and by schools and other NGOs as well.  This team is being helped by a team of AID volunteers in Chennai who help with printing, designing, field-testing and distributing these materials.

Some of the organizations that use our materials:

1. Tamilnadu Science Forum (TNSF) which works on a large community health programme in 900 villages and on a primary education programme in 200 villages. TNSF volunteers also help us formulate and define themes where more materials are needed.

2. Bihar Gyan Vigyan Samithi works in 600 villages on a health programme. They are starting off work on education and we will be providing them with materials for both.

3. Vidyarambam is an NGO running more than 150 pre-primary centers across Tamilnadu. (www.vidyarambam.org)

Apart from NGOs, a lot of schools directly contact us and get and use our materials.  This is mostly happening in Chennai and schools nearby.  But we are slowly expanding to other areas as well.

How can you contribute:

  • Write stories for children and adults
  • Create posters and pamphlets of different science, math and health topics
  • Create science experiments kits
  • Develop video and interactive CDs
