| Project Summary |
AID Rural Technology Center is aimed at assisting
the poorer communities of rural Orissa by working directly with them and assisting them in kind and
low / no interest loans and skills training/enhancement. There are a great many technologies, designs,
tools and techniques etc. that will greatly enhance the economic stability of the rural poor,
which primarily rely on artistic skills and agriculture for their existence. The technology center
endeavours to avail and disseminate appropriate technologies, techniques etc. to the rural poor. The
center would be esablished within the heart of the poorer rural communities (such as in the neighbouring
community of the Jagannath Institute of Technology and Management (JITM)) so as to enable the greatest
number of beneficiaries to avail the facilities without the added pressure of having to enter into unfamiliar
environments (urban / city) in order to avail assistance and training (as are the current scenarios). |
