ANS. TO QUES. VII 1. The first doctor was a talkative & trying to make business by motivating poor people to have different tests at his well known Patholabs & X-ray Clinics in Kolkata... though sometimes such tests were not necessary at all. Moreover, he behaves oddly & illtreats female-patients ... so, we brought specific-objection/ blame on him (after a repeated request)... he left us. 2. As the bridge (on river) has been opened and the island is now connected with the main land ... So, it is now a good news/opportunity for doctors to stay & visit their homes as per their need ... moreover, the present doctor is willing to stay & serve our people as he has made maximum community involvement through PSS. We are also taking much care of him & his other necessities here. Again, we are making contract (for atleast 2 years) after which the same is renewable. In this case, our doctor has to give prior (3 months) intimation if he is not willing to stay at the clinic. 3. On an average 30-35 patients are visiting our clinic. Sometimes the number increases, or sometimes decreases - as the visiting need of patients vary as per seasonal dominancy of different diseases. A statitics on the same will be sent soon as the regisrered is not available here at the Co-ordinating Office in Kolkata. 4. a) FHC is going to be accepted (as per PSS dicision) positively in the month of May, 2003 & onwards. Besides this, Patients' visiting Fee of Rs. 10/- & Emergency call Fee of Rs. 25/- for PSS - outsiders will be charged from May also. The Emergency call charge will be higher for the rich people in the area. All money will go to the Clinic Corpus Fund (CCF). b) 6 Month Medical Camps (Awareness & Clinical) For the villages. c) 6 Training Program for the VHWs on i) ANC care & check-up. ii) Immunization for child & mother. iii) Safe delivery & safe- motherhood. iv) Low cost Food & Nutrition. v) Common & Communicable diseases. vi) Food preservation & Proper way of cooking. d) Trainings to PSS : i) Food & Nutrition. ii) First-aid & Home Nursing. iii) Nutritional Gardening. iv) Sanitation, Safe-drinking water & communicable diseases. v) Importance & use of Latrines. vi) Maintenance of Tubewells. vii) Herbal Gardening & use of medicinal properties out of medi-Herbs/Plants. 4. The last trainings that were done for the villagers (PSS - members) are i) Dai - (TBA) Training. ii) First-aid & Home Nursing. iii) Prevention of water & air-borne diseases. iv) Use of village Ponds & Proper washing & cleaning. -Home demonstration, Field Demonstration, Home Practices are helping us to be ensured that these were fruitful. 5. After the survey & its analysis. PSS (1 PSS = 20 families) were formed. Thus, it was decided that initially 1000 families (50 PSS) would be included. Again, The Survey Analysis is being sent to you as per attachment. 6. We are planning to have Mid-Term Evaluation through Surveys, Sample studies (interview based), Demonstration-Tests etc. so as to study the progress of the 1st phase (September - February) of the Healthcare Project. 7. We have a definite plan to initiate and integrate Homoeopathy absolutely for poor patients who generally are not able to afford/avail the scope of Allopathic treatment. * For this, can you consider an Extra Honoranium of Rs. 4000/- Per Month X 12 Months = 48,000 only for an qualified Homeo.- Doctor (Full Time) who will be available in our land (We have already made contract). 8. We are also not aware of the fact ... anyhow we will try to have sufficient information regarding the same and take necessary steps. 9. Present timings of the clinic are as follows : Morning - 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. Afternoon - 3 p.m. - 6 p.m. Evening - 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. – It is kept open from Monday - Friday (4/5 days in a week). – The new doctor stays 5 days in the island ... So, an another doctor was Proposed (for rest 3/2 days). Can you consider it ... ? 10. We are now on our decision that FHC card will be issued from May definitely. Again, A patients' visiting Fee of Rs. 10/- is being planned to charge from the outsiders & an Emergency Call Charge of Rs. 25/-. We are also aware of the project sustainability. 11. From this month, April our VHWs are maintaining Daily Diaries to record their work. 12. We are also stressing on Preventive Health Care (PHC) for Community Health In Need (CHIN). For your information, we are glad to let you know that those efforts are being suported by ICA (Indians for Collective Action), USA. Project components are : Awareness Camps, Training Programs, Purchase of A-V aids like CTV & CD Player, Solar Panel for Clinic electrification. -We are interested in pursuing the logistics, if your support. N.B.: Can you support atleast one Tubewell of worth Rs. 60,000 for safe-drinking water as an important component of our Healthcare Project ... as it is recommended by our PSS units. So, Our (Present) additional request (besides those you are agreed) for funding on the following Components. i) Homoeo Clinic Doctor @ Rs. 4,000 X 12 Months = Rs. 48,000.00 ii) Deep Tubewell (1 No.) @ Rs. 60,000 X 1 Month = Rs. 60,000.00 Total = Rs. 1,08,000.00
