Project : Trust for Reaching the Unreached(TRU)
State : EQ affected areas of Gujarat
Development Focus: Health Care & Housing for EQ victims

About the NGO*:  TRU led by Ms Nimitta Bhatt is primarily based in Vadodara and has worked in several villages in an around Vadodara. It's area of strength is in health. Gautam Desai, an AID Volunteer went to Gujarat after EQ and visited TRU.

Existing Conditions:  The 2001 devastating Gujarat EQ left several families homeless. Additionally a large number of people were affected physically & physchologically. An amount of $16,500 has been approved by Network of Asian American Organisations(NAAO) - ( A consortium of Indian Organizations in Austin)  towards TRU's health work. The proposal to AID is towards reconstruction of houses.

Objective of Project: (1) To build and provide transit shelters to needy families in the Bachau and Rapar tulikas (2) Provision of primary health care and referral needs in 3 pockets -Khadir(Bhachau Tulika), Balasar(Rapar Tulika) and Maliya(in North Rajkot district.  (3)Provide training for community health care needs to  various NGOs and other agencies working in the affected area.

Status: Approved $ 10,000
