At the end of the project period, a comprehensive analysis of the extent of non compliance and issues influencing this scenario will be put together in the form of a report. | | Objective | - To track the Compliance with Environmental Clearance conditions for several projects across India.
- The proposed work aims to quantify the extent of compliance of environmental clearance granted under the Environment Impact Assessment Notification, 1994.
- It has been identified that once a project is granted clearance there is minimal or no monitoring of the clearance conditions and therefore the level of compliance is dismally low, hence the need for such a study.
- The project essentially aims at quantifying the extent of non compliance with environmental clearance conditions by development/infrastructure projects cleared by the MoEF and follow up action.
- Once the report is made, it can be used in advocating for strengthening of the EIA clauses on monitoring, compliance and penalties for non compliance.
