Nishant sent the certificates of appreciation to Manpur block last week. In all about 60 certificates for 74 VHAs and Cluster resource persons with about 15 blanks were sent. The design of these certificates were based on those created by Cincinnati. We re-created the certificates in Word to simplify distribution and printing. It can be downloaded from http://studentorgs.utexas.edu/aidaustin/projects/hbp_b/certificate_hindi.doc (Note: Need the Hindi Fonts to view) The TB training and the survey is complete. The health team will now visit the health center and talk to the officials about the treatment, about the facilities available in the PHC and persuade the ANMs to go regularly to the block. SHGs: The count has now increased to 22. 12 of them have bank accounts. The other 10 are in the process of getting the bank accounts open. Also there are now about 25 women in the health program. This seems to be a significant improvement from December when they had about 10-12 women. The health team is trying to increase the # of SHGs and through these trying to recruit more women. There is a training on the 18th for Jan Sunwai. BGVS national committee and the state team will do the training. The idea is to make people aware of the services PHC provides, the aanganwadi functions etc. The date for the Jan Sunwai will be decided during the meeting next month. (12th August) Binod Kumarji said there was a noticeable improvement in the health as seen from the weighing results. He mentioned a case when the child from a relatively well to do family moved from 4th to 2nd grade from the 1st to the 2nd weighing. The complete data analysis is yet to be done. We are yet to analyze the data from 1st and 2nd round of weighing. This would be done very soon. The block team meets twice in a month: on the 15th and the 30th. We will call again on the 15th and talk to the cluster resource persons to get more detail on the progress.
