Project NREGA implementation and protecting livelihood rights

NGO Information Andhra Pradesh Vyavasaya Vruthidarula Union is a state federation of 317 mandal level agricultural labourers unions spread over in 14 districts of A.P. The present membership of all federated mandal unions is 5.24 lakhs. It is a first registered state level federation in the state of Andhra Pradesh under trade union Act of 1926. The union has came into existence in the year 1991 and formed as full fledged federation at state level is in 1998. NISARGA is Legal Holder and APVVU is implementing organization.
Project Summary

Promote livelihood rights of agricultural workers and marginallised farmers by effective implementaion of NREGA (National Rural Employment Guarantee Act) in 7 mandals of Chittoor District , Andhra Pradesh.

Goals of the Project are:

  1. Educating and creating awareness on REGA (Rural Employment Guarantee Act)
  2. Building links between people, NGOs and officials
  3. Strengthening of village workers association
  4. Identify appropriate works for employment
  5. Social audit and public hearings

Objective The objectives of the project are as follows :
  1. To enhance livelihood security of landless unemployed rural workers and their family members.
  2. To convert uncultivable lands of Rural poor in to cultivable productive assets of the rural poor through the better implementation of employment guarantee schemes.
  3. Improve the life conditions of the rural poor; stop the migration and child dropouts in the school.
  4. Enhance the capacities of the rural workers to make make use of right to information act and EGA to work towards transparent and corruption free societies.
  5. Develop leadership skills among the youth to involve in better implementation of REGS.
  6. To build the collective skills of protest and dissent from among the agricultural workers and dalits of local area against the corruption non-implementation programmes.
