Thanks to everyone who came to tonight’s meeting. And extra thanks to those who came out for our first IM soccer game! It was a close game, and everyone played really well. We’ll get ‘em next time. The ALDPES Dispensers do not give up so easily.

For those who couldn’t make it to the meeting, here are some of the things we went over:

UPCOMING EVENTS (AKA EASY POINTS):

What: Park Social

When: This Friday, April 4 (meet in front of Carothers dormitory at 4:30)

Where: Eastwoods Park (we’ll be walking there from Carothers)

Why: Fun and free food (the fun is also free, in case anyone is wondering)

What: Next IM soccer game

When: April 9, 7:00

Where: RecSports Center

Why: For glory. And a point.

** Bring your UT ID and wear athletic clothing.

What: Honors Day

When: Saturday, April 12

Why: We’re the only organization allowed to work at this event, so we need as many volunteers as we can get!

To sign up, send an e-mail to aldpes@hotmail.com

** Remember that if you sign up to volunteer, you’ll have to attend an information session. Also, you can still volunteer at Honors Day even if you’re being honored, since there are two different shifts for the two different ceremonies.

What: Reggae Fest

When: April 19, 2:00-5:00 pm (meet at the Honors Center at 1:15)

Why: Meet some of Austin’s more… colorful individuals. Plus, you get in FREE after you volunteer!

To sign up, send an e-mail to aldpes@hotmail.com

OTHER INFORMATION:

If you would like to apply to be an officer, please fill out the officer application (attached to this e-mail). Applications are due by the next general meeting (April 16); they can be turned in at any officer’s office hours before this date. When we receive all the applications, you’ll be able to sign up for interview times; interviews will be held during the evenings of April 21 and 22. Everyone (that includes new members!) is encouraged to apply. If you have any questions about the position(s) for which you’re applying, talk to the appropriate officers at office hours, shoot them an e-mail, find out where they live and track them down, or find some other way of getting in touch with them. We’re happy to answer any questions.

Thanks to Jenifer Wilde for coming to talk to us about Trash to Treasure. This is a project that takes items that college students donate (instead of throwing out) when they move and sells them at the beginning of the next school year to make money for various campus projects (recycling, campus clean-up, etc.). The donation drive takes place from May 7 through May 19. Lots of volunteers are needed (about 150 to 200) on May 3-4 and 7-20, and August 22-25, to collect and sort donations. Shifts are three hours long and take place from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm in the LBJ parking lot. And remember – volunteers get Early Bird Passes to the garage sale (meaning you get first pick at the best stuff!). For information or to sign up to volunteer, visit: www.TrashtoTreasureUT.com.

(Note: this is NOT an ALDPES service event.)

Have a good rest of the week, everyone.
