Article I - Name
University of Texas Badminton Club

Article II - Purpose
To popularize the sport of badminton at UT and allow students interested in badminton to have a fixed time and venue to improve their skills by training with other students.

Article III - Membership
A. Any UT student or faculty/staff interested may become a member of the club.
B. In order to become a full member, he/she must pay membership dues and be a student of the university.
C. A full member has voting right and can be elected as a club officer.
D. A full member is allowed one shuttlecock per practice.
E. Any faculty/staff who wishes to become an associate member must pay the Recreational Sports facility use fee and regular membership fee. An associate member can neither vote nor hold any office.
F. The membership is not limited.

Article IV - Meetings
A. The club will meet three times a week on Monday, Thursday and Sunday in Belmont room 528.
B. Special meetings will be decided upon by officers.

Article V - Executive Board
A. The club has the following officer positions:
1. President: to keep in contact with Rec Sports and to oversee other officers' duties. The president is also the club representative for Rec Sports and must fulfill all duties expected from said person.
2. Vice-president: to ensure that all paperwork is taken care of and to coordinate wit the secretary to handle funds. The vice-president is the assistant representative and must fulfill all duties expected from said person.
3. Secretary: to assist the president and vice-president.
4. Treasurer: to handle all transactions with the Student Organizations Bank.
B. In case of vacancy, election will be called by the highest remaining officer.

Article VI - Elections
A. All officers will be selected by the membership. Offices will last for one year and elections will take place at the beginning of the fall semester. An officer may hold his/her position for as long as he/she continues to be re-elected by the rest of the membership against the other nominees.
B. Nomination for officers will occur one week before elections. Nominees must have one semester of experience within the club.
C. A majority of the officers will decide any tie.
D. If the need for the removal of an officer should ever arise, a special meeting will be called and voting by secret ballot will take place. Three-fourths of the membership must agree in favor of removal before action can be made.
E. If an officer leaves his office before his term expires, a special meeting and election will be called to fill the position as soon as possible.

Article VII - Funds
A. All revenues are to be placed into the Union account (*229). All checks will be drawn from this account to pay for shuttlecocks, tournament expenses, and any other miscellaneous expenses that should arise.

Article VIII - Committees/Divisions
A. Any decisions to create committees will be made by the executive officers.

Article IX - Affiliations
A. The UT Badminton Club has no affiliations.
B. The UT Badminton Club adheres to the rules set by the International Badminton Federation (IBF) and United States Badminton Association (USBA).

Article X - Ratification
A. The Constitution must be approved by two-thirds of the membership. Upon ratification, the Constitution would immediately become open to amendment.

Article XI - Amendments
A. Amendments should be proposed by the officers and voted upon be the membership at a preannounced session. A two-third majority of the membership is necessary.

Article XII - Bylaws
A. Bylaws should be itemized and appended to the Constitution.
