Saraí Vázquez
President

Sarai Vasquez is from Guadalajara, México.  This is her second year at UT and her second semester in BESO.  She likes being in BESO because she has learned a lot of things that will help her to succeed in her career as a bilingual teacher.  She chose to major in bilingual education because she likes to teach and she loves kids.  Also, because she would love to help those kids that are learning English to improve academically.

Erica Fernandez
Vice President

Erica Fernandez was born and raised in Houston Texas. This is her second year at UT and she has wanted to be a teacher since the age of 10. She hopes to work closely with minority females to try and help bridge the gap between minorities and failure rates. She believes that her family, friends and the value of faith has helped her become the person that she is today.  Personal quote: “Children need a voice for the future and I look forward to teaching and making a difference in as many lives as I can….. Ok, ok I’ll settle for even one life!”

 Carmen Meyer
Public Relations

She is an advocate of bilingual/bicultural education and an advocate for helping children with special, cultural, and linguistic needs. She was a special education major with the goal of becoming a bilingual special education teacher. She changed her major last fall, but  still hopes to teach bilingual special education some day and eventually pursue a career in educational policy to make or change laws to protect our children. She wants to  help her community, make a positive difference, and be a servant for the public. She also likes bunnies.

 Tony Del Bosque
Member - at - Large
Tony Del Bosque is one of those people that just enjoys life and never really lets anything get in the way from getting a job done.  Originally from Eagle Pass, he is now in his third year of college here at UT and is looking forward to graduating in Spring 2008 certified to be a bilingual professor and hoping to make a difference in every student's life.  His static personality and dedication to the organization, as well as his fellow officers, will definitely help it establish a name for itself in and around Austin aspiring others who are seeking a bilingual education degree to join the organization and make it one of the best years yet!

Jennifer Rodríguez
Member - at - Large
She was born and raised in Dallas, TX.  This is her fourth year at UT and her second year participating in BESO.  She first wanted to become a teacher in 3rd grade because she thought it would be awesome to be able to write on the chalkboard and overhead. Don’t worry; her reasons for wanting to become a teacher have since changed. She has a great love for children and their well-being as well as their cognitive comprehension.  She also has an interest in speech pathology and hopes to pursue that interest in the future.
