About the BGSA

The Black Graduate Student Association (BGSA) is dedicated to improving the quality of graduate and professional student life at the University of Texas at Austin. The BGSA' s mission is to promote academic excellence, mentoring, professional guidance, and social support for scholarly advancement of undergraduate students, graduate students, and other members of the University of Texas community of the African Diaspora.

The BGSA holds monthly meetings to discuss several topics, which include, but are not limited to, political action and community engagement issues, professional development, and social activities. The BGSA also works diligently to establish and maintain liaisons with faculty, staff, student organizations, and the community at large. The meetings are open to everyone, but are specifically geared towards people of the African Diaspora.
