The Fajetus Rally

April 8, 2000

       This rally was certainly an offensive rally to some, but it was funny enough that those people who got offended had little company. The whole rally was based on the following logical premises:

If the Pro-Lifers and right, then abortion is murder, and if the vegans are right, then meat is murder, so therefore...

if ABORTION = MURDER and MEAT = MURDER

ABORTION = MEAT

And therefore, we should eat fetuses (remember a modest proposal? something like that, but with cool recipes and such). This rally consisted of several presentations including a couple of chefs explaining how to cook fetuses, a nutritionist explaining the benefits of fetus consumption, and a pregnant lady who couldn't wait to cook up her fetus. The Fajetus is a Fetus fajita which was touted as both delicious and easy to prepare.

The shock value of this rally was one of the highest we have had, but we expected more students would have been offended. The key example was when the Austin Right to Life Foundation was given an anonymous tip that we were proposing eating fetuses and we were not kidding (this tip off was actually not planned at all. Funny, eh?). They said that they would send someone over right away. This representative came, saw a short bit of the rally, and then suggested to us that we encourage cigarette smoking by pregnant women in order to give the fetuses that smoked flavor we all love. Times like that remind us all you can always laugh about things, even when they are serious to you.

Josh Strong earned his knighthood by putting this event together.
