Capoeira Angola Student Group

Capoeira Angola at The University of Texas at Austin

The Capoeira Angola Student group was originally founded in 1998 to further the study of Capoeira, an Afro-Brazilian dance/martial art, by sponsoring on-going classes and hosting workshops with visiting mestres.

Classes are on break for the Winter Intersession and will resume January 19, 2010.

Come play capoeira

No experience necessary, all are welcome! And we mean that! You do not need to be a current student to attend our classes. Faculty and Staff of UT are welcome. So are all members of the community and visiting capoeiristas.

Interested in joining us? Come to a class or email us at capoeira@www.utexas.edu.

What you need

Wear a t-shirt, pants and tennis shoes for your first class. We do not require a uniform for classes, but if you would like to participate in demonstrations with us, you will need black pants and a group t-shirt.

What you pay

We welcome visitors throughout the semester and offer a free trial class. Our group supports its activities by collecting dues of $20 per semester for currently enrolled UT Austin students. Non-student memberships are available for $30 per month. A limited membership for on campus classes only is available for UT faculty and staff for $20 per semester. We use dues to pay for basic operational expenses and to host workshops with visiting teachers.
