Summer Prayer!

Hi everyone! I hope all of you are enjoying your summer breaks!

Although we won't be having AACM events in the summer, we would love for you to join us in praying for all of the InterVarsity fellowships! A prayer list has been made, so that there will be one person praying each day throughout the summer. We definitely encourage everyone to pray each day, but this list will help us keep one another accountable for praying for our fellowship! We invite you to sign up for one day (or more!) and pray with us!

What to Pray for:
1. New Student Outreach: For fellowships to be dependent on the power of the Holy Spirit in reaching out to new students; for events, organization, and for new students to be drawn to IV fellowships through distinct devotion to God, as light of the world (Matthew 5:14-15)
2. Small Group: For small group leaders to start serving God as shepherds of His flock by being examples to those around them: to walk humbly, to be alert and of sober spirit, to resist the devil, and to have an eager heart in serving God (1 Peter 5:1-8)
3. Large Group: For growth in community (spiritually & numbers); for leaders to have clarity & obedience to God's vision; for leaders to allow God to mold the LG culture (Isaiah 64:8); for love in the community that would reach out to new people!
4. Prayer: For fellowships to be an open, accountable, and prayerful community; for fellowships to be wholly surrendered to God through prayer; for individuals to continue praying on all occasions for their brothers and sisters in Christ; to call upon God through prayer for thanksgiving and deliverance; for fellowships to be safe houses of prayer (Matthew 21:13) - and for unceasing prayer, which is God's will for us (1 Thess 5:17-18)

RecWeek is May 17th-23rd @ Camp Buckner. It is a great opportunity for you to join with the InterVarsity fellowships of UT, Baylor, Trinity, and Austin College for 6 days as you are transformed by God's Word and equipped to take what you learn back to campus!
Along with there being a speaker, you can also choose from the following tracks: Following Jesus (Mark 1), Living Witness, Roots, and Small Group Leader Training. These tracks are taught by IV staff and are all really really good. I really encourage all of you to go to RecWeek and invite your friends also!

Good luck on all of your exams/papers/projects!

Hi everyone! I hope you're all doing well and making it through your midterms! From leadership to DVDs to football, we've got some great things coming up!

Leadership Info Sessions, Friday February 29th & Monday March 3rd, 4pm @ Quadrangle Room 3.304 (in Union)
God is at work on the UT Campus! If you have ever wondered how you can be a part of His Kindgom building process, please come check out one of the AACM Leadership Info Sessions. It's open to everyone - all who are just curious, those that have thought about it many times, and new and experienced leaders in AACM! We will give an overview of the fellowship, all the places you can serve and important future dates. The only requirements to apply for leadership next year are: attendance to one of the info sessions, a humble heart, and a passion to see the Kingdom of God expand through AACM!

Please come join us this Friday as we spend time worshiping together, building community, and meeting with God! Our one and only AACM intern, Sarah Smith, will be speaking to us this week!

"The Showdown," Saturday April 5th
ABSA is hosting a charity girls tackle football game and is looking for girls to play! After signing up for the event, you'll be placed into one of 2 teams, with girls from other organizations. Players will need to find sponsors to donate and support them. If a sponsor donates $10 or more, then the sponsor will get a shirt. All sponsors get free admission to the event, while spectators would have to pay $2 to watch. All the proceeds from this event are dedicated to helping the problem of human trafficking as highlighted by the AACM Talent Show. Documentary will be followed by Q&A with Kate Rocke from the Central TX Coalition Against Human Trafficking. This is open to the whole campus so invite your friends and neighbors!

Volunteer Opportunity, Saturday February 23rd, 1-4pm
AACM will be volunteering with Project 2008 on Saturday! This university-wide volunteering project partners with "Keep Austin Beautiful" to help clean up Austin area neighborhoods and parks. Rides, snacks and water will be provided! It'll be a great way to give back to the community as well as to hangout with friends. For those of you who are new to AACM this year, NSM is offering a seminar focused on Leadership and Spiritual Journey next week. This will be a great opportunity to learn from a few of our leaders about these topics!

Speaking of leadership....if you are interested in being a leader of AACM next year, we will be holding an Information Session next Friday. Leadership ranges from leading a small group to playing on worship team to welcoming students new to AACM. There are many opportunities available, so even if you aren't sure about any of this right now, please join us at the meeting to learn more! Also, we hope that you begin praying now about what God has in store for you for next school year.

With talent show just days away, we'll be spending Friday night preparing ourselves for the show! Join us as we lift up in prayer those who are involved with and attending talent show. We'll also be playing fun games to get us excited about talent show!

Join us this Saturday night as we watch students from all over campus dance, sing, and act! This year's show is focused on spreading awareness of the issue of Human Trafficking. Invite all your friends to this event! The show is FREE, but come early to get a seat! Doors open at 7:30pm, show begins at 8pm.
Also, we are holding a Valentine's Day Fundraiser tomorrow from 9-3pm @ Jester West. Support talent show by buying carnations and cookies tomorrow!

"Sorting Party," Talent Show Follow Up, Sunday February 17th, 8:30pm @ TBA
The talent show follow up team needs your help to sort all of the contact cards from the show. From there, we'll be inviting people to join small groups, GIGs, or to simply thank them for coming. We encourage you to join us since follow up is such an important part of the show!

"Cargo: Innocence Lost," Documentary Screening, Thursday February 21st, 7:30pm @ BUR 106
Want to learn more about human trafficking? Join Justice Team at our post-show documentary screening! Open to the whole campus! Invite your friends and neighbors. Documentary will be followed with Q&A.

Volunteer Opportunity, Saturday February 23rd, 1-4pm
AACM will be volunteering with Project 2008 next Saturday! This is a university-wide volunteering project that partners with the "Keep Austin Beautiful" foundation to help clean up Austin area neighborhoods and parks. Rides, snacks and water will be provided! It'll be a great way to give back to the community as well as hangout with friends. CSA is also volunteering in the same time slot as us, so what a great way to meet new people! :) If you are interested, sign up after Large Group or email us at aacm.iv@gmail.com

Believe it or not, slavery still exists in the world today. With this year's talent show focused on Human Trafficking, we'll be hearing from those who are affected by this issue and from those who are doing something about it. Please join us in speaking up for those with unheard voices!

      We also need volunteers to pass out flyers with their hands bound together by bungee cord signifying the slavery aspect of human trafficking. Volunteers are needed for Wednesday 2/13 at West Mall and Thursday 2/14 at Gregory Plaza from 12-1pm. Email aacm.iv@gmail.com if interested.

"I'm Not Ashamed," Large Group, Friday February 1st, 7pm @ Welch 1.308
Come join us at Large Group this week as we have a time of fellowship, community, and a chance to meet with God! Sabrina Chan, our InterVarsity Area Director, will be speaking this week!

We need your help!! These interactive boards that focus on social justice are a way for us to reach the students on campus and to let God's light shine through us. The 5 fellowships of InterVarsity are working together on this and we'd love for you to join us! You'll be helping to man the quaerens station, as well as engaging in spiritual conversations. It's also an opportunity for us to invite others to our joint event on Thursday night. Hi everyone! I hope you are enjoying the last days of your winter break. The Spring semester is already starting up, and we hope you can join us in everything that's going on!

These interactive boards focus on social justice and are a way for us to engage the students on campus and to let God's light shine through us. The 5 fellowships of InterVarsity will be working together reach out to the UT campus and we'd love for you to join us!

1) Quaerens Kick-Off, Friday January 11th, 6:30pm @ Welch
THIS Friday all of InterVarsity will be meeting together to learn more about Quaerens. You'll get equipped with evangelism training and pumped up for all that God's going to do on our campus! (The room for this event has not yet been finalized, but just come out to Welch, and I'm sure you'll find us!)

2) Quaerens Help! Saturday January 12th to Thursday January 17th, 9am-4:30pm @ Gregory Plaza

3) AACMapella will be performing once again at this year's Talent Show. We hope to put on a great performance, and we are looking for anyone that would be interested in committing to this group. The only requirements are that you have a passion for God, a passion for singing, and a passion for performing. We usually practice for 2 hours, at least every other day, so you must be able to dedicate a lot of your time. We expect you to be responsible with your commitment.
