"who has required this at your hand, to trample my courts(G-d's Temple.)." (v. 12) Does G-d hate the Temple or just the fact that the people are trampling, i.e acting like animals in it? In this chapter of Isaiah, G-d goes through and discusses various things that He dislikes and exactly why He dislikes them. No where in this chapter does G-d say that He hates the actual commanments, just the manner in which they are carried out. After G-d discusses the problems, He also discusses the solutions. If He wanted to abolish the commandments, why does He plead that the people fix themselves and work hard on fulfilling the commandments?(I.E)
"Assemblies with iniquity"(Is 1:13) Is it the assmebles that G-d hates or that they are done with iniquity?
"The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the L-rd; but the prayer of the upright is his delight." (Pro. 15:8)"
"The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination; how much more, when he brings it with evil intent." (Pro. 21:27)
Does it make any sense for G-d to command man to do something that He Himself hates(Lev. 23:36)(Nu.29:35)(Dt.16:8)? The answers to the above questions is obviously no. G-d loves the assembles and the mitzvot that is the entire reason that He created the world.
"Sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly, gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land into the house of the L-rd your G-d, and cry to the L-rd"(Joel 1:14)
"Blow the shofar in Zion, sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly"(Joel 2:15)
"I will gather those who mourn far away for the solemn assembly, who were of you, who had borne for you the burden of insult."(Zeph.3:18)
"
Your new moons and your appointed feast my soul hates.(v. 14) Does G-d hate His own commanments and wisdom? No, does not say that G-d hates the new moons and the appointed seasons. He hates "your" seasons. These are the holidays which the northern kingdom made when they stopped observing the Torah's holidays. devised of their own heart"(N.V)
"the fifteenth day of the eighth month, in the month which he had devised of his own heart; and ordained a feast to the children of Israel;"(I Kings. 12:33)
"I will not hear; your hands are full of blood:"(v.15) Once again G-d explains why it is that He does not listen to prays and that is because of murder?
"Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean;"(v. 16) If G-d no longer wanted the holidays, why did he not say it in the prophecy? With this verse G-d begins to tell the people how they can return to Him and fix the above properties.
"put away the evil of your doings from before my eyes; cease to do evil."(v. 16)
G-d does not want to end the commandment He wants people to start fallowing them in the proper manner.
"Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the orphan, plead for the widow."(v.17) This and the above quotes are vary important because man is capible to be good if he tries.
"they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool."(v.18) And if a person does the above things G-d will remove their sins.
"If you are willing and obedient"(v.19) How is one obedient to G-d? One is obedient to G-d by following His commandments.
" for they would not walk in his ways, neither were they obedient to his Torah"(Is 42:24)
This notion that G-d will change the law is completely unfounded in scripture. For a complete refutation of this idea see Jer 31
"And it shall come to pass, that every new moon, and every sabbath, shall all flesh come to worship before me, says the L-rd."(Is. 66:23) I thought that G-d hated them? If this is the case then why will they occur in the times after Messiah?
(Ezekiel:46:6)And on the day of the new moon it shall be a young bull without blemish, and six lambs, and a ram; they shall be without blemish
"Forever O L-rd, your word stands . . . your word is true from beginning, and every one of your judgments is eternally righteous"(Ps 119: 89, 160) It is clear from this Psalm that G-d does not hate His own Laws or plan to change them.
Even the New Testament says the covenant will not change "even if heaven and earth shall pass, the word of Moses and the other prophets shall not pass"(Lk 16:17)
Holy, Holy, Holy is the L-rd of Host; the whole earth is His glory(Is. 6:3)
Christians claim that this verse refers to the concept of a
Trinity
"I saw also the L-rd sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his
train filled the temple."(v.1) If there is a Trinity, how come Isaiah
doesn't mention three people? On the contrary he only mentions one
throne and one L-rd sitting there. Similiarly when Ezikiel saw the divine
throne. "And above the firmament that was over their heads was the likeness
of a throne, in appearance like lapis lazuli; and upon the likeness of the
throne was a likeness like the appearance of a man upon it."(Ez 1:26)
"I saw also the L-rd sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his
train filled the temple"(v.1) If Isaiah had been aware of a trinity,
wouldn't he have taught it to his people? The prophet Isaiah was of the few
figures in human history who actually saw G-d's presence. The trinity is a
foundation of Christian belief, it is absurd to propose that Isaiah simply
made abstract illusions to this important idea.
"Holy, Holy, Holy" (v.3) Does every repetion imply plurality?
Repeating something three times is a normal method of establishing truth
and permanence to a statement.
The following are examples of a triple repetition that in no way implies a
trinity.
"O earth, earth, earth, hear the word of the L-rd:"(Jer 22:29)
"A ruin, a ruin, a ruin will I make it;" (Ez 21:32)
"O my son Absalom, my son, my son Absalom!"(II Sam 19:1(18:23)
"Trust you not in lying words, saying, The temple of the L-rd, The temple of
the L-rd, The temple of the L-rd, are these:"(Jer 7:4)
"The L-rd is a jealous and revenging G-d; the L-rd revenges, and is full of
wrath; the L-rd takes vengeance on his adversaries, and keeps wrath for his
enemies"(Nh 1:2)
Besides the triple repetion the double is often used.
"Moses, Moses"(Ex 3:4)
"Abraham, Abraham"(Gen 22:11)
Should the reader then come to the conclusion that there are two
Abrahams.
It has been explained in the section on unity, that it is impossible to
deduce from scripture the concept of a Trinity.
See card #
"Holy, Holy, Holy"(v.3) Redak, the classical commentator says that the
three mentions of Holy mean that G-d is Holy in eternity, Holy in the angelic
worlds,(as in L-rd of host) and Holy in our world.(as in the whole earth is his
glory) Redak explains that G-d is Holy in all dimensions of existence.
"G-d is King, G-d was King, G-d will be King forever"(Ps. 10:16)
"For the L-rd is our judge, the L-rd is our lawgiver, the L-rd is our king;
he will save us." This verse, along with the above quoted, show G-d's
complete unity in both time and space.
Isaiah 6:9
"In the year that king Uzziah"(v.1) Did J.c live during the peroid of
Uzziah? This prophecy was spocken to Isaiah to deliver to the people of his
time.
" I am a man of unclean lips."(v.5) If J.c is the speaker in verse
nine then he must also be the speaker in verse five. Surely it is an
impossiblity to call G-d "I am a man of unclean lips."
"and your iniquity is taken away, and your sin purged."(v.7) Did J.c
have any sins that needed to be purged?
"Also I heard the voice of the L-rd, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will
go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me."(v.8) Was J.c the one who
originaly gave this prophecy? The same "I" who gave the prophecy is the verse
one said "Listen as you will, you shall not understand, look indeed, but do
not grasp."(v.9)
"Listen as you will, you shall not understand, look indeed, but do not
grasp."(v.9) Can it be said that this provides conclusive prove? There is
nothing in this verse alone, which even points to any specific generation.
"Listen as you will, you shall not understand, look indeed, but do not
grasp."(v.9) If this prophecy has the Christians meaning, it posses
serious theological problems:
a) Either G-d is not omniscient, because G-d, incarnated as J.c(HV), was unable
to convince a group of mortal who He was.
b) It is also absurd to suggest that G-d puts up stumbling blocks so that His
chosen people will not be able to understand Him and as a result they will be
burn in Hell for all eternity. This is a violation of a Biblical law as well
as contradictory to the notion of a merciful G-d.
"Then said I, L-rd, how long? He answered, Until the cities are
destroyed without inhabitants, and the houses without man, and the land is
completely desolate"(v.11) How come the Jews did not believe in J.c after
the great tragedies? Even if you hold that G-d did purposely closd off the
peoples opertunity to repent, it is clear that this was limited.
Isaiah 7:14
And it came to pass in the days of Ahaz the son of Jotham, the son of
Uzziah," (v.1). Did Mary live during the time of Uzziah(783-742 b.c.e)?
"The L-rd spoke further to Ahaz' ask for a sign from the
L-rd"(v.10 ) Does it make sense G-d to tell Ahaz, that in more than a
thousand years some one will have a virgin birth?
"Assuredly, my L-rd will give you(Ahaz) a sign of his own accord! Look, the
young woman . . ." (v.14) Clearly this verse shows that the sign of the
young woman was given to Ahaz.
"Behold, the young woman is with child"(v.14) Did Mary give birth to
J.c during the times of Ahaz? This verse should not be translated in the future
tense because(tdlyw) is in the past tense(see Gen. 16:11) Therefore the verse
can not refer to Mary, for she lived much later.
"In the same day shall the L-rd shave with a razor which is hired, by them
beyond the river, by the king of Assyria, the head, and the hair of the legs;
and it shall also sweep away the beard." (v.18) Did J.c live before the
destruction of the Assyrian Empire? It is clear from verse 18 and from"For
before the child shall know how to refuse the evil, and choose the good, the
land whose two kings you dread shall be deserted"(v.16) that the child
must be born before the destruction of Assyria.
Another indication that it occurred shortly after Isaiah's prophecy is the fact
that he used the Hebrew word (oot) which indicates a prophecy which is
fulfilled immediately, as in (Gen. 15:4)(R.J.K)
"Therefore the L-rd himself shall give you a sign (ot))"(v.14) Is
it possible for virgintiy to be a sign? The Hebrew word (ot)) means a
sign which everyone can see. An (ot)) appears in (Gen. 9:12) "This is a sign
(ot)) that I set for the covenant between Me and You, and every living thing .
. ." see also (Jos. 2:12, 4:6)(Is 20:3),(Jd 6:7),(Ex 31:13) all of which are
open sign of wonder. Can something as private as virginty be a sign like a
rainbow?
"Therefore the L-rd himself shall give you a sign (ot))"(v.14)
Is there any way for that generation to realy know that Mary was a virgin?
Is there any way for this generation to know?(R.J.K, N.V)
" the king of Assyria and all his glory; and it will rise over
all its channels, and go over all its banks. And it shall pass through Judah;
it shall overflow and go over, it shall reach even to the neck; and the
stretching out of his wings shall fill the breadth of your land, O
Immanu-El."(Is 8:7-8) The above prophecy could not have taken place
during the time of J.c because it was already fulfilled during the time of the
Assryian Empire
"Behold, the young woman (almah)"(v.14) The Hebrew word hmloo[h
indicates the age of a women and does not necessarily mean virgin. See (S.S.
6:8),(Gen 24:23),(Pr 30:19)" The way of a vulture in the sky; the way of a
serpent on a rock; the way of a ship in the midst of the sea; and the way of a
man with a young woman" hmloo[h,(Ex 2:8), (Rt 2:),(Joel 1:8)
The word almah refers to age and not to sexual
status. This is easily proven when compare it to the masculine form
elem
"And Saul gave him(David) Michal his daughter for a wife . . . And Saul saw
and knew that the L-rd was with David, and that Michal Saul's daughtec loved
him:"(I Sam 18:27,28)
"But if I say thus to the young man elem, Behold, the arrows
are beyond you"(I Sam 20:22) It is clear that David is not a virgin and yet
he is still called (elem).
Christians might respond by saying that in the Septuagint the
Rabbis translated this word into a Greek word which means virgin.
What does this prove? If the rabbis believed that the prophecy spoke
of a virgin giving birth then why didn't these rabbis believe in J.c?
One reason is that Septuagint was only a translation of the Torah(the first
five books) not the prophets or the writings.
Another reason is that he Septuagint we have now, is not even the
original text because the Talmud, Tractate Meggilah, list certain words that
the Rabbis did not translate literal which have been changed to a literal
translation.
Thirdly ,the Christian interpretation depends on the fact that
Septuagint uses a word that can only mean virgin. The Greek translation of the
word almah is "parthenos" and it does not always mean virgin.
"And when Shechem the son of Hamor the Hivite, prince of the country, saw
her, he took her, and lay with her, and defiled her: And his soul was drawn to
Dinah the daughter of Jacob, and he loved the girl(parthenos), and spoke kindly
to her."(Gen. 34:2-3) It is clear from the above verse that Dinah was not
a virgin and thus proving that parthenos is not an exclusive term for virgin.
Even if it did mean a virgin shall conceive and bear a child, what is special
about that. Every woman is a virgin who sometime in the future shall conceive
and bear a child.(R.J.K)
r" By the time he learns to reject the bad and choose the good, people will
be feeding curds and honey."(v.15) Does G-d , omnipotent and all knowing,
need to learn anything?(I.E)
The woman giving birth to a child possibley was Isaiah's wife. Isaiah 8:3
says "and I came unto the prophetess and she conceived" and it also stated
in (8:18)"Behold, I and the child whom the L-rd has given me are for signs and
wonders in Israel from the L-rd . .. " (I.E, N.V)
Compare verses (7:16)"Before the lad knows to reject bad and choose good,
the ground whose two kings you dread shall be abandoned." with (8:3-4)"I was
intimate with the prophetess, and she conceived and bore a son . . .For before
the boy learns to call `father' and mother the wealth of Damascus and spoils of
Samaria . . . shall be carried off before the king of Assyria" There is a
direct correlation between this two verse in the 'Before the lad knows" and the
destruction of the foreign power.
Land of Zebulun, land of Naphtali along the sea beyond the Jordan, heathen
Galilee: The people that walked in darkness have seen a brilliant light; on
those who dwelt in a land of gloom, light has dawned.( Is 8:23-9:1 quote. in
Mt. 4:15-16) Christians say that this was fulfilled when J.c moved to
Capernaum from Nazareth.
"For before the child shall know how to cry, My father, and my mother, the
riches of Damascus and the plunder of Samaria shall be taken away before the
king of Assyria"(v.4) Did J.c live during the times of the Assyrain
Empire(-)? Does it make any sense to warn people living during the roman
empire about an Aayrain envassion?
"Because this people refuse the waters of Shiloah that flow gently, and
rejoice in Rezin and Remaliah's son"(v.6) Rezin (ca. 740-732 b.c.e)
Pekah(736-732 b.c.e) J.c (ca. 0-32 c.e) One of these things just doesn't
belong here can you find it?
"the king of Assyria and all his glory; and it will rise over all its
channels, and go over all its banks"(v.7) Was there any threat from
Assyria during the times of J.c?
"And it shall pass through Judah; it(Assytia) shall overflow and go over, it
shall reach even to the neck"(v.8)
"For there is no weariness to him who is set against her"(v.23) Why
doesn't the N.t start its quotation from the begining of the verse? How does
this fit into the story told in mt. ?
"at the first he lightly afflicted"(v.23) Is this part of the verse
found in Mt. ? I might understand starting a quotation from the middle, but
what is the explanation for removing an entire phrase from the verse? Did J.c
go to Capernium twice, the verse says "at first" mean he was there
before?
"and afterwards he afflicted her more grievously"(v.23) Is there any
mention of J.c acting harshly with the inhabitants of capernium? Once again
why is this phrase removed right in the middle of a verse?
Isaiah 9:5
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government
shall be upon his shoulders, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor,
The mighty G-d, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of
his government and peace shall be no end, upon the throne of David.(Is, 9:5-7
no quoted in N.t) The Christians claim that this proves that the son is
the son of G-d
For you have broken the yoke of his burden, and the staff of his
shoulder, the rod of his oppressor."(v.3) What burder was brocken from them
during th times of the Roman Empire? Not only did things get bettdr they got
worse after the times of J.c i.e destruction of the Temple etc.
"as in the days of Midian."(v.3)
(Jud 7:21-23)
(II Kn 19:35)
"For every shoe of the stormy warrior, and every garment rolled in blood
shall be burned as fuel of fire."(v.4) When was this fullfilled during the
life of J.c? On the contrary the Roman occupation became worse during and
after his life
""For unto us a child is born,"(v.5) The verse is in the present tense
which excludes a future fulfillment.
Wonderful Counselor, The mighty G-d, The everlasting Father, The Prince of
Peace."(v.5) Where in the New Testament is J.c called any of these names.
What about Immanuel?
"Wonderful counsellor of the mighty G-d, of the everlasting Father, of the
Prince of peace:"(v.5) Having a name with G-d as part of it does not prove
that person is G-d. Samuel(G-d listen), Ishmael(G-d heard), Elijah(He is G-d)
Joel( L-rd is G-d)
"upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom"(v.6) Did J.c ever rule
the kingdom?
"peace shall be no end"(v. 6) Did J.c bring peace to the world and
there shall be to this
" L-rd is bring against them the waters of the river, mighty and many, the
kings of Assyria and all his glory"()This prophecy occurred in the time of Ahaz
as stated in 7:1-2 and in 8:7-8
"And all the people shall know, Ephraim and the inhabitant of Samaria, who
say in the pride and arrogance of heart."(v.8) Where the northern tribes
still in Israel and did they still have a capital? There is no way this could
refer to J.c because Ephraim and the other 10 northern tribes were exiled 700
years before his birth.
"Therefore the L-rd shall set up the adversaries of Rezin against him, and
stirs up their enemies"(v.10) Did J.c live in the times of Rezin?
"His reign extends from now " Did J.c rule Israel while he was alive .
Secondly the verse says "and forever" which would disqualify J.c, who died in
his thirties, a few years short of forever.(M.B)
Isaiah 11:1 quoted in Acts 13:23
"spirit of the L-rd shall rest upon him"(v.2) If he was G-d, then why
did he need the sprit to come to him? Secondly if the spirit came to him, was
there a time when he did not have it? These are obvious contradictions to the
Christian doctrine.
", the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the L-rd"(v. 2). If
he was G-d would it make sense to have devotion and reverence for yourself?
Once again, this is another place where Christians make G-d look like a
schizophrenic.
"And his delight shall be in the fear of the L-rd"(v.3) If you are the
L-rd how is it possible to fear yourself, and more over how do you take delight
in it?
:"he shall not judge by what his eyes see, nor decide by what his
ears hear"(Is 11:3) Do G-d's eyes mislead Him, or His ear mislead Him?
"The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb,. and the Leopard shall lie down
with the kid."(Is. 11:6) Did J.c fulfill this prophecy or the ones in the
following verses? The person prophesied of in (11:1&10) must also do
this.
"And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down
together; and the lion shall eat straw like the ox"(v.7) Anyone who has
ever watch P.B.S knows that animals still attack each other.
"And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned
child shall put his hand in the viper's den"(v.8) Are there realy
Unfortunately many children are still killed by snake bits.
" They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain."(Is 11:9)
Was this fulfilled during the life time of J.c? Surely this was not
fullfilled, because 40 years after the death of J.c hundres of priests were
murder by the Romans and the Temple was destroyed.
"for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the L-rd, as the
waters cover the sea."(v.9) If this was fullfilled then why is there a
need to send missionaries around the world to witness to the coming of J.c?
" And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, who shall stand for a
banner of the people; to it shall the nations seek"(Is 11:10) Did any
nations come to Israel to seek His banner? On the contrary Paul had to go all
around the world to convience people.
There is no indication that J.c actually descended from Jesse. The
chronology listed in the New Testament traces his lineage through Joseph, but
if Joseph wasn't his father then it is useless. (see )
"to recover the remnant of his people,"(v.12) Did J.c bring back the
exiles?
"And he shall set up a banner for the nations, and shall assemble the
outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four
corners of the earth"(v.12) Was this possible during J.c life time for the
people were yet to be exiled around the world?
"And the L-rd shall completely destroy the tongue of the Egyptian
sea"(v.15)
The prophet Zechariah and Jeremiah also speak about this branch.
"Hear now, O Joshua the high priest, you, and your friends who sit before
you; for they are men of good omen; for, behold, I will bring my servant the
Branch . . .On that day, says the L-rd of hosts, everyone of you shall invite
his neighbor under his vine and under his fig tree"(Zec 3:8-10) Was this
prophecy fulfilled? For it says "on that day", not sometime in the
future.
"In those days, and at that time, will I cause an offshootof
righteousness to grow up to David; and he shall execute judgment and
righteousness in the land . . ."
"In those days shall Judah be saved, and Jerusalem shall dwell safely . .
." (Jer 33:16) Can it be said that Judah dwelt safely after J.c considering
the Roman later destroyed the Temple and the country
"David shall never lack a man to sit upon the throne of the house of
Israel . . ."(Jer 33: 17) This contradict the notion that the branch will
be G-d or G-d's son.
"Neither shall the priests the Levites lack a man before me to offer burnt
offerings, and to kindle meal offerings, and to do sacrifice
continually" (Jer 33:18) This contradicts the notion
that J.c will be the final sacrifice.
"for I will cause their captivity to return, and have mercy on them:"
(Jer 33:26) Since J.c did not do this it is clear that he was not the
Messiah
"And in this mountain shall the L-rd of hosts make to all people a
feast of fat things, a feast of wines on the lees."(v.6) Is there any
reference to such a feast being given in the N.t?
"He has concealed death forever"(v. 8). It is very clear that people
still dye, so it is impossible for J.c to have fulfilled this
prophecy.
"wipe away tears from off all faces" (v.8) Did J.c wipe away the tears
of Israel?
Luke 23:27 "women which also bewailed and lamented him."
Luke 23:28 " but weep for yourselves and for your children."
"and the insult of his people shall He take away"(v.8) If anything,
things have been worse for the Jewish people since the times of J.c. The
Jewish people have been mocked, ridiculed, expelled, and even exterminated.
The tears shed in this exile are enough to fill a sea.
"we have waited for him, and he will save us." (v.9)
Jews did and still believe that G-d is the one who forgives and removes
sins. It is through G-d 's attributes of mercy that He removes sins through
repentance.
"we have waited for him, and he will save us." (v.9) How is it possible
for the people during the times of Isaiah to wait for J.c to save them? It is
only logical that if you do not know of something it is impossible to wait for
it.
"we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation"(v.9) Jew saw the
destruction of Jerusalem , the destruction of the Temple, and thousands
murders less than 40 years after J.c. Is this rejoicing and gladness?
"the hand of the L-rd shall rest on this mount, and Moab shall be trampled .
. ."(Is v.10) Did J.c destroy Moab?
"For You made a city a heap, a fortified city into ruin; a palace of
strangers, because of the city it shall never be rebuilt." How can there be
strangers if everyone is close to G-d as they claim? Christians claim in many
places in the Gospels that G-d no longer has a chosen people, Israel, and has
brought near to him all the nations. But this idea contradicts with the above
quoted chapter for it says
No where in this chapters is there any allusion to G-d sending a son or any
kind of messenger, every action is done by G-d alone, with no help.
For the L-rd is our judge, the L-rd is our lawgiver, the L-rd is our
king; he will save us.(Is 33:22) Christians use this to show that the
Messiah will be divine.
"The L-rd is exalted; for he dwells on high; he has filled Zion with
judgment and righteousness."(v.5) Did J.c fill zion with judgment and
righteousness? Surely not considering that the whole story J.c's death was
centered around injustice.
"your eyes shall see Jerusalem a safe habitation"(v.20) Was Jerusalem a
safe habitation either before or after the death of J.c?
"But there the glorious L-rd will be to us a place of broad rivers and streams;
wherein shall go no galley with oars, neither shall gallant ship pass
thereby"(v.21)Where there stream in Jerusalem during the times of J.c?
Ez 47:4
Joel 4:18
Zec 14:8
"For the L-rd is our judge, the L-rd is our lawgiver, the L-rd is our king;
he will save us"(v.22) The sentence is in the present tense not future.
G-d was and always will be the ruler of Israel
"G-d is King, G-d was King, G-d will be King forever"(Ps. 10:16)
"Your throne, O G-d, is for ever and ever; the scepter of Your kingdom is a
scepter of equity"(Ps. 45:7)
"For the kingdoms the L-rd's; and He is ruler over the nations"(Ps. 22:29)
"Yours, O L-rd, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the
victory, and the majesty; for all that is in heaven and in earth is yours; your
is the kingdom, O L-rd, and you are exalted as head above all: "(Chr.
29:11)
"For the L-rd is our judge, the L-rd is our lawgiver, the L-rd is our king;
he will save us"(v.22) Even when Israel had a Davidic king, G-d was still
considered the king of Israel.
(II Chr. 13:5) "Ought you not to know that the L-rd G-d of Israel gave the
kingdom over Israel to David forever, to him and to his sons by a covenant of
salt:
(I Chr. 28:5-6)"And all my sons , for G-d has giving me many sons. He chose
Solomon to sit on the throne of the kingdom of the L-rd over Israel".
Isaiah 40:3
"Comfort my people, comfort them, says your G-d"(v.1) What comfort did
John or J.c bring to the Jewish people? Not only did they not bring comfort to
the Jewish people the message of the Gospel brought Crussades and Holocausts.
"Speak comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry to her, that her fighting is ended,
"(v.2) Did J.c end fightintg? On the contrary, the Jews faced attacks by
Roman, Arabs, Christians, etc all following the "comfort of J.c.
"that her iniquity is pardoned; for she has received from the L-rd's hand
double for all her sins"(v.2) If Israel has already been redeemed of their
sins why do we need J,c to die for them?
"Clear in the desert a road for the L-rd! Level in the wilderness a highway
for our G-d"(v.3) Before jumpin to any conclusions that G-d walk in the
deserts of Judea, it is important to look in the previous chapter.
"Behold, the days will come, that all that is in your house, and that which
your fathers have laid up in store until this day, shall be carried to Babylon;
nothing shall be left, said the L-rd"(Is. 39:6)
G-d being mercifial always pushed with one hand brings near. with other.
In Is 39:6 He describes the exile, one of the sadest event in Jewish history
and then in Is 40 He tells about the redemption.
""Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made
low; and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain"(v. 4)
Was this prophecy fulfilled either literaly or figuratively during the
times of J.c? Masses of Jews did not return to Israel..
"all flesh shall see it together; for the mouth of the L-rd has spoken
it:."(Is 40:5) Was G-d universally excepted after John the Baptist.
"Behold, the L-rd G-d will come with strong hand, and his arm shall rule for
him; behold, his reward is with him, and his hire before him"(v. 10)
Did J.c come with a strong hand? On the contrary, he did not have the
strength to deal with the Roman authority. Did he establish the rule of G-d or
bring reward? All of these are neccesary to fullfill the prophecy in verse 3.
Other verses in Isaiah which discuss this Highway.
"And a highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called The Way of
Holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it; and he shall be to them a guide,
and fools shall not err in it . . . but the redeemed shall walk there.'(Is
35:8-9)
"And I will make all my mountains a way, and my highways shall be raised up.
Behold, these shall come from far; and, lo, these from the
north and from the west; and these from the land of Sinim.
"(Is 49:11-12) Did the exiles return from all around the
world when J.c came? This is impossible, becauses they were not yet spread
throughou the world.
"Sing, O heavens; and be joyful, O earth; and break forth into
singing O mountains; for the L-rd has comforted His people, and has mercy upon
his afflicted."(Is 49:13) Did G-d comfort His people during the times of
J.c? On the contrary the oppression by the Romans increase.
"How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news,
who announces peace; who brings good news of good, who announces salvation; who
says to Zion, Your G-d reigns. The voice of your watchmen is heard; together
shall they sing; for they shall see eye to eye, when the L-rd returns to
Zion.
Break forth into joy, sing together, you ruins of Jerusalem; for the L-rd
has comforted his people, he has redeemed Jerusalem."(Is 52:7-9)
This is My servant, whom I uphold, My chosen one, in whom I delight. I have
put my spirit upon him, He shall teach the true way to the nations. (Is 42:1
quoted. from Mt. 12:18; Jn 1:34; Mk 1:2; Lk 9:35; Id. in Jn. 22:10)
Christians claim that the servant spoken of here is J.c
" I have put my spirit upon him"(v.1). If J.c was G-d, as Christians
claim, would G-d need to put His spirit on Himself.
"my chosen"(v.1) Fromwhom was J.c chosen? If J.c is one with G-d, and the
only one who ,according to Christains, able to save man, then there is no
choice,.
"in whom my soul delights"(v.1) Can G-d be delighting in Himself?
This would be attributing vanity to G-d(HV)
"He shall neither cry nor shall he raise(his voice); and he shall not make
his voice heard outside"(Is 42:2) Most of J.c career was spent going
around delivering speeches outdoors, which must have been necessary to speak
with a raised voice.(I.E, Abarb.)
" he shall not make his voice heard outside." This means that he will
not have to spread his teachings outside Israel, for in this time the nations
will say themselves "Let us go with you, for we have heard that G-d is with
you."(Zec 8:23)(Rashi)
"He shall not grow dim or be bruised"(Is. 42:4) If J.c is the one which
this prophecy foretold then why was J.C wiped and beaten for it says
"to bring out the prisoners from the prison"(v.7) Did J.c release any
prisoners? On the contrary, he was taken as one and then crucifed. Hundreds
and even thousands of Jewish people were crucified and imprisioned both during
and after the life time of J.c.
If this prophecy was to be fulfilled by J.c then why does G-d say "I am the
L-rd; that is my name; and my glory will I not give to another." (v.8) It
is clear that G-d is alone, works alone, and is alone glorious.
"his praise from the end of the earth"(v.10) Did the ends of the world
know about J.c that they could sing praises? The ends of the world had no idea
about Christainity, that is why missonaries have gone all around the world
teachin them.
"The L-rd shall go forth as a mighty man, he shall stir up his fury like
a man of war; he shall cry, yes, roar; he shall prevail against his
enemies"(v.13) Does this fit the passion narrative? Does this fit the
J.c in the passion narratives? The Gospel portrarys J.c as a lamb lead to the
slaughter of cries out "My G-d my G-d why hast thou forsaken me?"().
"I have long time held my peace; I have kept still, and refrained myself;
now will I cry like a woman in labor; I will gasp and pant together"(v.14)
How is is is possible for this verse to reffer to J.c, when he was quite and
let himself be killed?
Isaiah 43:3
For I am the L-rd your G-d, the Holy One of Israel, your savior(Is
43:3)
Christians claim that this means that G-d will incarnate himself into J.c
and become the Messiah
"For I am the L-rd your G-d, the Holy One of Israel, your savior
"(v.3) G-d is and always has been the savior of Israel and this fact does not
change if He sends someone.
"And when the people of Israel cried to the L-rd, the L-rd raised up a
savior to the people of Israel, who saved them, Othniel the son of Kenaz,
Caleb's younger brother."(Jd 3:9)
"But when the people of Israel cried to the L-rd, the L-rd raised them a
savior, Ehud the son of Gera, a son of Benjamin, a left handed man; and by him
the people of Israel sent a present to Eglon the king of Moab." (Jd 3:15)
"And the L-rd gave Israel a savior, so that they went out from under the
hand of the Arameans; and the people of Israel lived in their tents, as
formerly." (II Kg13:5)
Even though it is a human who physical does the action and is also
called a savior, it is only because G-d sent him and gave him the power to do
this, so in truth G-d is the true savior. As in the above examples so will it
be with the Messiah.
"For I am the L-rd your G-d, the Holy One of Israel, your savior
(Mosecha) "(v.3) The Hebrew word used in the verse is Moshecha not
Moshach. The first word means a savior and the second means the anointed
Messiah. An once this fact has been clear it becomes very clear that this
verse is saying that G-d helps and protects man from all his problems.
"Fear not; for I am with you; I will bring your seed from the east, and
gather you from the west. I will say to the north, Give up; and to the south,
Keep not back; bring my sons from far, and my daughters from the ends of the
earth"(Is 43:5-6) Did J.c retrun the exiles? This would have been very
difficult considering that the Jews wre not yet exiled through the world.
" . . .Let them bring forth their witnesses, that they may be justified; or
let them hear, and say, It is truth. You are my witnesses, said the L-rd, and
my servant whom I have chosen; that you may know and believe me, and understand
that I am He;"(Is. 43:9-10)
What is more important about this prophecy is that the religions of the
world will admit to it.
Thus says the L-rd, who makes a way in the sea, and a path in the mighty
waters(v.16) Did J.c redeem Israel out of Egypt and split the sea for
Israel? J.c, according to the christians, was not incarnated untill the year
0, thus could not have taken part.
"Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old."(v.18)
Did J.c return the exiles and bring such great miracles that people would not
be able to remember the redemption in Egypt?
"Therefore, behold, the days come, says the L-rd, that they shall no more
say, As the L-rd lives, who brought up the people of Israel out of the land of
Egypt. But, As the L-rd lives, who brought up and who led the seed of the house
of Israel out of the north country, and from all countries where I had driven
them; and they shall dwell in their own land."(Jer 23:7-8)
Thus says the L-rd to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have held,
to subdue nations before him; and I will loose the loins of kings"(v.1) Bu
doesn't salvation only comes from G-d i.e Him physicaly coming and doing it?
From this verse the answer is abviously no. G-d uses human often time uses
human being to accomplish his work on earth. Eventhough it looks like a
phyiscal person is doing it, the phyiscal person is only acting a messenger for
G-d as stated in"I will before you, and make the hilly places level; I will
break in pieces the gates of bronze, and cut in sunder the bars of iron"(v.
2)
Israel is saved by the L-rd with an everlasting salvation(v.17) This
idea of G-d sending a servant to actualy do the physical redeming is best
found with Moses. Moses took the Jews out of physical slavery as well as
spiritual salvery.
"G-d who concealed Himself"(Is 45:15) Can this prophecy apply to J.c? For
J.c was(HV) the incarnation and revelation of G-d.
"They shall be ashamed, and also confounded, all of them; they shall go to
confusion together those who are makers of idols"(v.16) Did J.c put and
end to idol worship and make the people feel ashamed? Unfortunately idol
worship is alive and well in many countries around the world.
"you shall not be ashamed nor confounded to all eternity"(v.17) Did J.c
put an end to the constant hatred of the Jewish people? On the contrary more
hatred has been directed toward the Jews by Christains in the name of J.c!
" That to Me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear."(v. 23)
" they have no knowledge, those who carry the wood (cross) of their carved
idols, and pray to a G-d who cannot save "(v. 20)
Then what is it speaking about?
Babylon had conquered Israel, destroyed the Temple, and exiled the people.
G-d appointed Cyrus to bring about the above victory. "He is my shepherd", he
shall fulfill all my purposes! He shall say of Jerusalem, 'she shall be
rebuilt,' and to the Temple: ' you shall be founded again'"(Is 44:28).
The second reason that He used Cyrus, was to prove his strength. If Israel
conquered by war, they might latter say that it was through their own power
that the victory occurred.
The prophecy also tells Israel that in the future it will no longer be
embarrassed and once again " all the seed of Israel be justified, and shall
glory"(Is 45:25)
"And say to them, Thus says the L-rd of hosts, the G-d of Israel; Behold, I
will send and take Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and will set
his throne upon these stones that I have hidden; and he shall spread his royal
pavilion over them"(Jer. 43:10)
Isaiah 49:6quoted. in Lk. 2:32, Acts 13:47)
"Then I said, I have labored in vain, I have spent my strength for nothing,
and in vain. . ."(v.4) Is it possible for J.c, who christains claim is
G-d, to do anything in vain?
". . . and I was honored in the eyes of the L-rd. . ."(v.5) If you are
G-d, then how does this make any sense?
". . .and my G-d shall be my strength."(v.5) If you are G-d, it makes
no sense to say that G-d shall be your strength.
". . .to bring Jacob back to Him, that Israel should be gathered to Him."(Is
49:.5)
Did J.c bring back the Jewish people to the true worship of G-d? Unfortunately
many Jews at that time were not following the true path.
"And he says, It is a light thing that you should be my servant to raise up
the tribes of Jacob"(v.6) Could this refer to J.c considering, according
to christians, that he is part of a trinity and on an equal footing with them?
The person spoken of is a "servant". and in order to be a servant, you must be
lower which would contradict the notion of a trinity
"that may salvation may be to the end of the earth"(v.6) Did J.c bring
salvation to the entire world? Missionaries have been tring for thousands of
years to do this and still have not succeded.
"to restore the land, and to assign desolate inheritances to their
owners"(v.8) Did all the Jews return to Israel and was the land of Israel
returned to the Jewish people?
"That you may say to the prisoners, Go forth;"(v.9)
"They shall not hunger nor thirst; neither shall the heat nor sun strike
them"(v.10)
"Behold, these shall come from far; and lo, these from the north and from
the west; and these from the land of Sinim.(v.12) Since the exiles have
not returned J.c could not be the light described.
Sing, O heavens; and be joyful, O earth; and break forth into singing O
mountains; for the L-rd has comforted His people, and has mercy upon his
afflicted.(v.13)
Is comforting your people subjecting them to exile for more than two thousand
years and going through holocaust and mass murder? Unfortunately, G-d has not
redeemed His people and comforted them for the long exile they have gone
through.(may it happen soon).
"But Zion says, The L-rd has forsaken me, and my L-rd has forgotten
me"(v.14) The city of Jerusalem has suffered through the years of Exile
and has complained all these years for the return of her childre.
"and those who destroyed you(Jerusalem) shall go away from you."(v.17)
Were the destroyers of Israel removed from the land during J.c's time? On the
contrary he was killed by them and after his death they pilaged the country,
destroyed Jerusalem and its Temple. Is this removing the destroy of G-d
beloved city?
"The children who were taken away from you shall say again in your ears, The
place is too narrow for me; give me room to dwell in."(v.20)
"and they shall bring your sons in their arms, and your daughters shall be
carried upon their shoulders"(v.22) Did any country bring back the Jews
that where in their country? Not only did the nations return the Jewish peopl
to Israel, they have been trying to destroy and kill as many as possible.
"from now on there shall no more come to you the uncircumcised and the
unclean."(52:1). Surely this does not fit the times of J.c, especially because
shortly after his death the Romans attacked Israel and destroyed the Temple.
". . . O captive daughter of Zion."(v.2) & ". . . and all the ends of the
earth shall see the salvation of our G-d. Depart, depart, go out from there .
. ."(v.10-11) Was Judea in exile during the life of J.c?
Did J.c announce " who brings good news, who announces peace; who
brings good news of good, who announces salvation; who says to Zion, Your G-d
reigns(v.7)?
"How beautiful are the feet of the herald on the mountains, announcing
peace, heralding good tidings, announcing salvation, saying to Zion ' your G-d
has manifested His kingdom."(Is 52:7)
". . .touch no unclean thing; go out from her midst; be clean, you who
bear the utensils of the L-rd."(v. 11) This prophecy could not have taken
place during the times of J.c. During the times of the second Temple there
were plenty of Levites and priests who were both living in Israel and
pure..
2) If J.c fulfilled this prophecy he should have fulfilled verse 9 "Burst
out in song, sing together, O ruins of Jerusalem, for the L-rd has consoled
his people; He has redeemed Jerusalem." It was not possible for him to do
this, because Jerusalem was not in ruins and they were not exiled that they
need to be redeemed.
3)Compare with (Num 14:14)" . . . that You , O L-rd, appear eye to eye
when Your cloud resorts over them . . ."
see also (Is 6:1)(Ex 24:10)
The L-rd talked with you face to face in the mount out of the midst of the
fire."(Dt. 5:4)
4) And all the ends of the earth shall see salvation of our G-d.(Is 52:10)
When J.c was alive he certainly did not bring salvation to the entire
world.
5)See Is 28:16,
Isaiah 53
1) Start reading from the beginning of the chapter which says "Who
can believe what we have heard?" What this is talking about was stated in the
previous chapter "Behold My servant shall prosper"(Is. 52:12) What is strange
about this is that the servant has been through so much and yet he will
prosper.
2)Ask the Christian the question what did they hear? The answer is
that when the Messiah comes, the non Jews will realize that their religions
were wrong and admit their shame. See the following verses
Thus says the L-rd of hosts; In those days it shall come to pass,
that ten men from the nations of every language, shall take hold of the robe of
a Jew, saying, We will go with you; for we have heard that G-d is with
you.(Zec. 8:23)
"O L-rd, my strength, and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of
affliction, nations shall come to you from the ends of the earth, and shall
say, Surely our fathers have inherited lies, worthless idols"(Jer 16:19-21)
"And in that day seven women shall take hold of one man, saying, We will eat
our own bread, and wear our own apparel; only let us be called by your name, to
take away our reproach"(Is 4:1)
Thus says the L-rd, the redeemer of Israel, his Holy One, to him whom man
despises, to him whom the nation loathes, to a servant of rulers, Kings shall
see and arise, princes also shall prostrate themselves, because of the L-rd who
is faithful, and the Holy One of Israel, who has chosen you."(Is 49:7)
But in the last days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the house
of the L-rd shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be
exalted above the hills; and people shall flow to it.(Mic 4:1)
Behold among the nations, and regard, and be struck with amazement; for I
will perform a deed in your days, that you will not believe if told"(Hab
1:5)
3)If J.c is G-d as Christians claim he is, how is it possible for him to
be called a servant. The term servant necessitates that there is a master of a
higher status.. Thus the servant and the master can not be equal which
contradicts the whole notion of a trinity.(Tk, etc.)
The servant referred to here is Israel.
(Is 41:8)"But Israel is my servant"
(Is 41:9) "You are my servant, I have chosen you and not cast you
away"
(Is 44:1)" Yet now hear, O Jacob my servant; and Israel, whom I have
chosen:
(Is 44:2)" Fear not, O Jacob, my servant; and you, Jeshurun, whom I have
chosen:"
(Is 44:21) "Remember these, O Jacob and Israel, for you are my servant. I
have formed you; you are my servant; O Israel, you shall not be forgotten by
Me
(Is 49:3)"You are My servant, Israel in whom I glory"
(Is. 45:4) "For the sake of My servant Jacob, Israel My chosen one"
(Jer 46:27)"But do not fear, O my servant Jacob, and be not dismayed,
O Israel; for, behold, I will save you from far away, and your seed from the
land of their captivity; and Jacob shall return, and be in rest and at ease,
and none shall make him afraid"
(Ps 132:22) " A heritage to Israel his servant; for his loving kindness
endures for ever:"
4)V.2 says "For he grew up before him as a tender plant." This refers to
Israel.
(Is 27:6)"In days to come Jacob shall take root; Israel shall blossom and
bud, and fill the face of the world with fruit"
(Is 44:3 -4 ) "For I will pour water upon the thirsty land, and floods upon
the dry ground; I will pour my spirit upon your seed, and my blessing upon your
offspring. And they shall spring up as among the grass, as willows by the water
courses:
( Is 66:14)" And when you see this, your heart shall rejoice, and your bones
shall flourish like grass; and the hand of the L-rd shall be known toward his
servants, and . . . "
(Hos 14:6) "I will be as the dew to Israel; he shall flower like the
lily, and cast forth his roots as Lebanon."
5) Verse 3 says that he was familiar with sickness(ylj [wdyw). Does the Gospel
or any of the writings mention that J.c was ever sick.
Usages of the word(ylj [wdyw)
(Dt 7:15) " And the L-rd will take away from you all sickness, and will put
none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which you know, upon you; but will lay them
upon all those who hate you."
(Dt 28:61)"Also every sickness, and every plague, which is not written in
the book of this Torah, them will the L-rd bring upon you, until you are
destroyed:
(I Sm 30:13)" And David said to him, To whom do you belong? and from where
are you? And he said, I am a young man of Egypt, servant to an Amalekite; and
my master left me, because three days ago I fell sick:
)V. 3 calls him a man of pain Christians would say that this refers
to his pain on the cross, but this makes little sense. No one would call a
person who reads one book and man of learn, similarly a person who spent a
few hours out of his life in pain is not a man of pain.
)Verse 3 says "He was despised, and we esteemed him not at all" Could this
be the same J.c who the people said of "Hosanna, Blessed is He who comes in the
name of the L-rd Blessed is the coming of our father David." (Mk. 11:9-10)
This was only days before he was killed.
A possible response from a Christian might be that he was rejected at
his crucifixion.
But this is not true either for in (Matt 27:55-56)(Mark
15:40-41)
(Luke 23:27)"And there following him a great multitude of the people, and of
women who were mourning and lamenting"
) v.4 says "He has borne our sickness, and sustained our suffering". How can
this be proven? Even if J.c died on the cross, how is it possible to know
that it removed sin or suffering? To the contrary , Jews suffered horribly
under the Romans after J.c's death. They even suffered the most painful
experience of seeing the destruction of the Temple. Is this bearing
suffering?(I.O.C)
)If J.c died for sins, as the Christians claim, why is it necessary to be
Baptized and why if a baby dies before baptism it goes to limbo? Is this
justice?(I.O.C)
)Verse 4 says that "he was stricken([wgn)". The word Nagua always
means plague sent by G-d(Gen 12:17) , usually leprosy. (2 Kings 15:5), (Gen.
12:17), (Dt. 24:8)
) V.4 "He was afflicted" Once again instead of trying to make it fit J.c
look at what scripture says " I am the man(Israel) who has seen affliction by
the rod of his wrath(Lam 3:1). Notice the use of the singular to refer to the
nation of Israel.
)v. 5 "He was wounded because of our transgressions. " The usual
Christian translation is wounded for our transgressions., i.e. as an atonement.
But the Hebrew use a mem, which means from not because of. To have
their meaning, the text would need a Lamed..
)Who also could fulfilled the prophecy "He was wounded because of our
transgressions. "(Is. 53:5)? The people of Israel! See the following
verses.
(Ps 94:5)"They crush your people, O L-rd, and afflict your heritage."
(Is 30:26)" . . .on the day that the L-rd binds up the breach of his people,
and heals the stroke of their wound:"
(Is 1:6)" From the sole of the foot to the head there is no soundness in
it; but wounds, and bruises, and sores; they have not been pressed, nor bound
up, nor softened with oil."
)Verse seven says "Like a lamb lead to the slaughter." The people of
Israel are the ones who are called sheep
(Ps 44:12)"You have given us like sheep to be eaten, and have scattered us
amongst them"
(Ps 49:23)"For Your sake we are killed all day; we are accounted as sheep
for the slaughter"
)It says in versed 7 " He did not open his mouth; like a sheep lead to the
slaughter"
If J.c was this sheep, why did he say "My G-d, My G-d why has thou forsaken
me.".(Matt 27:46)
)Verse 9 says that "His grave will be set among the wicked" Matt 27:57 says
he was with a righteous man, who was his disciple.
)Verse nine says "He did no violence" and could not refers to J.c for he
"began to drive out those who were engaged in buying and selling. He
overturned the money charger's tables and the stalls of the men selling
doves."(MK 11:15-16)
"He made a scourge of cords, and drove them all out of the Temple, with the
sheep and the oxen; and he poured out the coins of the moneychangers, and
overturned their tables."(Jn 2:15)
"Do not think that I came to bring peace on the earth; I did not come to
bring peace, but a sword."(Matt 10:34"
"But these enemies of mine, who did not want me to reign over them, bring
them here and slay them in my presence."(Lk 19:27)
)In verse 10 it says "He shall have offspring([rz)" Did J.C have
children? The Christians will claim that this refers to disciples but
it only refers this refers to having children. (Gen. 3:15),(Num 5:28),(Ex
32:13),(Jer 29:32)
(Gen. 38:9;46:6,7;47:19,23,24;48:19)(Ex 16:31)(Lev. 11:38;15:16,17,32;
19:20; 20:2; 21:15,21; 22:4,13; 25:22; 26:5,16; 27:16,30)(Nm 5:13,28; 6:19;
11:7;14:24; 17:5; 20:5; 24)(Dt. 4:37; 11:2; 18:3; 22:9; 28:38; 31:21;
33:27)(Jos. 24:3)
)If Isaiah was describing the Christian system of atonement, then why does
he say, two chapters latter, that" the wicked forsake his way, and the
unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return to the L-rd, and he will have
mercy upon him; and to our G-d, for he will abundantly pardon."(Is 55:7) There
is no need for people to strive for atonement if J.c has already done it.
1)Who is the barren one? The answer is it is Jerusalem. for in other
places in Isaiah it is characterized as a woman.
"And the daughter of Zion is left like a shelter in a vineyard, like a lodge
in a garden of cucumbers, like a besieged city"(Is 1:8)
"How the faithful city has become a harlot! It was full of judgment;
righteousness lodged"(Is 1:21)
"Be in pain, and labor to bring forth, O daughter of Zion, like a woman in
labor; for now shall you go out of the city, and you shall dwell in the field,
and you shall go to Babylon; there shall you be rescued; there the L-rd shall
redeem you from the hand of your enemies."(Mic 4:10)
"for the L-rd has afflicted her for the multitude of her transgressions; her
infants have gone to captivity before the enemy."(Lam 1:5)
2)"Awake, awake, stand up, O Jerusalem, who has drunk at the hand of the
L-rd the cup of his fury. . .There is none to guide her among all the sons whom
she has brought forth; nor is there any who takes her by the hand among all the
sons whom she has brought up.(Is. 51:17-19)
3)Jerusalem has never returned to her prominence after the destruction by
Babylon and Rome.
"And he carried away all Jerusalem, and all the princes, and all the mighty
men of valor, ten thousand captives, and all the craftsmen and smiths; none
remained, save the poorest sort of the people of the land:"(II Kn.
24:14)
4) Paul makes a comparison between sons of Haggar and Rachel, and the New
and Old Testaments. His comparison makes no since for Rachel, the barren one
was never a widow and verse 4 says: "shall forget the shame of your
youth, and shall not remember the reproach of your widowhood any more:
5)Paul spends a great deal of his time, i.e. Romans and the other epistles ,
to prove that the "old" covenant was oppressive and harsh, but this
completely contradict the message of Tanak.
"The Torah of the L-rd is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the
L-rd is sure, making wise the simple. The statutes of the L-rd are right,
rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the L-rd is pure, enlightening the
eyes."(Ps 19:8-9)
