Despite our size Austin has much to offer residents, students, and visitors requiring kosher food. Listed below are the current businesses under the hashgacha (supervision) of the Va'ad Hakashrus of Austin. We also have an old (circa 1997) pamphlet offering a simple introduction to kashrus in general. The Austin American-Statesman wrote an article on Chabad Austin Shaliach R. Levertov's supervision there. In summary, the kosher status of the items is given as follows:

  • All bread items are Pareve, and fresh bread are Pas Israel (bagles are some times Lenders..make your own decision).
  • Cakes and cookies (baked on the premises) are Kosher dairy, but not Chalav Israel most pastry products are under "Texas-K" Rabbi Pearl administrator.
