In general the earlier the candles are lit, the better (because it exhibits an eagerness to do the mitzvah), but the candles must burn 30 minutes after sunset. Thus, the best time is right around sunset. On Friday night, light the Chanukkah candles separately <strong>before</strong> the Shabbat candles. On Saturday night, light the Chanukkah candles <strong>after</strong> <em>Havdalah</em>, i.e. after Shabbat is over.<p> On all nights, say the first two blessings.
