G-d Chabad centers all over the world are growing and expanding. There
still remains, however, a misunderstood and misrepresented fact, namely
that each Chabad center is supported by funding beyond local support.
There is no national funding for local centers on an ongoing basis. There are certain projects, such as the "Seder-to-Go" program and the "Lubavitch International Magazine," which do receive some financial help from the national Chabad office, but the vast majority of programs do not.
Chabad in Austin raises funds from local supporters and alumni from the University of Texas at Austin. A primary focus is the Jewish student population at the University, but it's not feasible to expect consistent financial support from them.
These funds support programs such as speakers and projects such as handing out menorahs on Chanukka. These funds allow us to combat missionaries on campus and work for the rights of Jewish students. These funds allow us to hold Shabbat dinners and lunches every week.
We can't do it alone. We need your help. The number of people we help far exceeds our resources.
Become a friend of Chabad Austin by taking us out (as you would a dear friend) every month, or perhaps you can make a commitment for an annual donation and help us year round.
