He was despised, shunned by men, a man of suffering, familiar with disease. as one who hid his face from us. He was despised, we held him of no account. yet it was our sickness that he was bearing, our suffering that he endured. We accounted him plagued, smitten and afflicted by G-d. But he was wounded because of our sins . . . he boar the chastisements that made us whole, and by bruises we were healed . . . He did not open his mouth like a sheep being led to slaughter. (Is. 53:3-11 quot in Jn 12:38, Rom 10:16)Christians claim that this is a prophecy concerning J.c crucifixion and how he suffered so that all sins could be forgiven.
1)Start reading from the beginning of the chapter which says "Who can believe what we have heard?" Ask the Christian the question what did they hear? The non Jews will realizes this and admits there shame see(Jer 16:19-21)
Thus says the L-rd of hosts; In those days it shall come to pass, that ten men from the nations of every language, shall take hold of the robe of a Jew, saying, We will go with you; for we have heard that G-d is with you:(Zech 8:23)
What this is talking about was stated in the previous chapter "Behold My servant shall prosper"(Is. 52:12) What is strange about this is that the servant has been through so much and yet he will prosper.
The servant referred to here is Israel.
(Is 41:8)"But Israel is my servant"
(Is 41:9) "You are my servant, I have chosen you and not cast you away"
(Is 44:21) "Remember these, O Jacob and Israel, for you are my servant. I have formed you; you are my servant; O Israel, you shall not be forgotten by Me
(Is 49:3)"You are My servant, Israel in whom I glory"
(Is. 45:4) "For the sake of My servant Jacob, Israel My chosen one"
In verse 10 it says "He shall have offspring" Did J.C have children? The Christians will claim that this refers to disciples but it only refers this refers to having children. (Gen 3:15),(Num 5:28),(Ex 32:13),(Jer 29:32)
(Gen 38:9;46:6,7;47:19,23,24;48:19)(Ex 16:31)(Lev. 11:38;15:16,17,32; 19:20; 20:2; 21:15,21; 22:4,13; 25:22; 26:5,16; 27:16,30)(Nm 5:13,28; 6:19; 11:7;14:24; 17:5; 20:5; 24)(Dt. 4:37; 11:2; 18:3; 22:9; 28:38; 31:21; 33:27)(Jos. 24:3)
It says in versed 7 " He did not open his mouth; like a sheep lead to the slaughter"
If J.c was this sheep why did he say "My G-d, My G-d why has thou forsaken me.":(Matt 27:46)
