Christians will tell you that the only way to have your sins removed is through blood sacrifice(common quote is (Lev. 17:11) but this is not true

1)This is not true the verse says "it is blood, as life that effects expiation." not "blood is the only expiation."

a) a person can even bring flour "he shall bring a tenth of an ephah of choice floor for a sin offering."(Lev 5:11)

b)half a shekel when giving to the L-rd as expiation for your soul"(Ex 30:15)

c) Even if J.c could be the sacrifice, he could not have fulfilled Lev 7:11 for it says in verse 3-4 "If anyone of the house of Israel slaughters . . . in the camp, or does so outside the camp, and does not bring it to the entrance to the Tent of Meeting . . . blood guilt shall be upon him : he has shed blood; that man shall be cut off from his people." J.c was nother sacrifice on the altar nor take there and therefore could not have been a sin sacrifice.

J.C says it himself "I have come for sinners and not for the righteous since they do not need me."(Matt 9:11) J.c says it himself that it was possible for people to be good and even to repent without him.

2) Sin sacrifice were only for those committed unknowingly. "When a person unwittingly incurs guilt in regard to any of the L-rd's commandments . . .he shall offer for the sin of which he is guilty."(Lev 4:2-3)

3)If J.c was to be a sin offering, i.e a blood sacrifice, why was he not called the bull of the L-rd for it says"a bull of the herd without blemish as a sin offering. to the L-rd"(Lev 4:3)

4)the sin offering was not communal everyone had to bring their own.

Could J.c be the Passover sacrifice?

Christian claim that J.c is the Passover sacrifice and forgives man of his sin.

This make no sense.

1)The sacrifice must be pure and unmarred "Your lamb shall be without blemish"(Ex. 12:5),(Lev 22:15-17)

a) The sacrifice must be brought by cohanim without blemishes (Lev 21:15-17) surely J.c was not without blemish "they stuck a reed in his right hand"(Matt 27:29) & "They took hold of the reed and kept striking him on the head."(Matt 27:30)

2)The Passover sacrifice was not a communal offering, each household had to do it (Ex. 12:3)"Speak to the community of Israel and say that on the tenth of this month each of them shall take a lamb to a family, lamb a household."

Further you must roast it and eat it (Ex 12:8)"They shall eat the flesh the same night; they shall eat it roasted over the fire."

3)The Passover sacrifice was not for the removal of sins . No where in that section are sins even discussed. The sacrifice was a commemorative sacrifice.

4)Christian claim that the blood of first Passover sacrifice in Egypt was to protect the Jews from death, just like the blood of J.c protect man from death and gives him everlasting life(HV). This sacrifice above was a one time event for in latter times the sacrifice had to be killed in the Temple(Dt. 16:2) "You shall slaughter the Passover sacrifice for the L-rd your G-d from the flock and the herd , in the place where the L-rd will choose to establish His name." and the Blood was not spread on the door.

5)The sacrifice must be brought on the alter in the established place of G-d " Take care not to sacrifice your burnt offerings in any place you like, but only in the place that the L-rd will show you"(Dt. 12:13)

There is clearly a prohibition against human sacrifice

6) "Do not offer any of your offspring to Molech"(Lev 18:21)(Lev 20:2-5)

"for they perform every abhorrent act that the L-rd detests; they even offer up their sons and daughters in fire to their gods."(Dt 12:31),(Dt 18:10)

a) (Dt. 12:31)" You shalt not act thus toward the L-rd your G-d, for they perform for their g-ds every abhorrent act that the L-rd detests; they even offer their sons and daughters in fire to their god"

7)Throughout the Bible this kind of sacrifice is hated by G-d

(II Kg 3:27)"so he (Jehorom) took his first born son , who was to succeed him as king, and offered him up on the wall as a burnt offering. A great wrath came upon Israel"

(II Kn 16:3) "He (Ahaz) even consigned his son to the fire, in the abhorrent fashion of the nations"

(II Kn 17:17) "They consigned their son and daughters to the fire . . . The L-rd was incensed at Israel."

(II Kn 21:6) "He(Manasseh) consigned his son to the fire<

If J.c was an everlasting sacrifice, then why do the prophet say that the Temple will be rebuilt and the sacrifices will start again forever?

8)Neither shall the priest, the Levites lack a man before Me to offer burnt offerings and turn meal offerings to smoke and perform sacrifice(Jer 33:18)

9)I shall give My Sanctuary in their midst forever.

The only sacrifice which was both communal and atoned for most sins was the following are verses which show people being forgiven without sacrifices

1) (Hos 14:3) "Forgive all iniquity, accept that which is good; and we will offer the words of our lips instead of bullocks."

2) (Num 5:6) "If a man or a woman commits any of the sins of man . . . and that person realizes his guilt, he should confess the wrongs that was done."

3) (Pro 28:13) "He who confess and forsakes them(sins) will find mercy"

4) (Jer 3:22) "Return, faithless children! I will heal your rebellious acts."

5) (Lev 16:30) "This day(Yom Kippur) atones for you."

6) (Ps 32:5-6)"I will confess my sins to the L-rd and You forgave the guilt of my sins"

7) (Jer 31: 19-21) "I can hear Ephraim lamenting; You have chastised me, and I am chastised, like a calf that has not been broken. Receive me back, let me return, for You L-rd are my G-d . . .I will receive him back in love.(Says G-d)"

8) (Ez 33:12) "The wickedness of the evil one will not cause him to stumble on the day he repents his wickedness."

(Lev 5:5) "He shall confess the sins he has committed upon it")(Sam 15:22) "Does Hashem delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the voice of Hashem?"

(Dan 9:20) "While I was speaking, praying, confessing my sins and the sins of my people Israel, laying my supplication before the L-rd my G-d."

(Is. 43:25) "I, I am He who blots out your transgressions for my own sake, and I will not remember your sins"

) (Ez 10:1-2) "While Ezra was praying and making confession, weeping and prostrating himself before the House of G-d."

The sacrifice was not a magical procedure that removed away sin automatically . It was necessary that the person repent. It was actually the repentance which was the main part. A sacrifice is to teach the person that what happens to the animals is what could happen to them for sinning, this will make them repent and come closer to G-d , that is why the word for sacrifice is (^brq) which comes from the root close. Blow are verse which prove the idea that G-d accepts repentance is the most important part of repentance and accepts it without the karbon.

(Hos 5:24)As for sacrifices that are made by fire unto me let them sacrifice, flesh and eat, for the L-rd accepth them not. Now will He remember their iniquity, and punish sins.

(Hos 6:6)"For I desire mercy and not sacrifices, and knowledge of G-d rather than burnt offerings"

(Jer 7:22)For when I freed your fathers from the land of Egypt, I did not speak with them or command them concerning burnt offerings or sacrifices. But this is what I commanded them. Do my bidding . . ."

(Mic 6:6) "Shall I approach Him with burnt offerings with calves, a year old? Would the L-rd be pleased with 1000 rams . . . what the L-rd requires of you only to do justice, to love goodness and walk humbly with your G-d"

(Amos 5;22-24)" though you brought me burnt offerings and your meal offerings I will not accept them neither will I regard the peace offerings of your fat beasts . . . But let justice well up as water and righteousness like a mighty stream."

(Is 1:11-18)"To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto Me? saith the L-rd I am full of burnt offerings of rams and the fat of fed beasts. And I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs or of he goats. . . bring no more vain oblations; it is an offering of abomination unto Me; . . . Wash you, make clean. Put away evil of your doings from before Mine eyes, cease to do evil and learn to do well; seek justice , relieve the oppressed . . ."It is clear in this passage that G-d does not accept sacrifice unconditionally, to the contrary they must be followed by ceasing from evil and doing justice.

(Ps 40:6-8) "You do not desire sacrifice and meal offerings; You do not ask for burnt offering and sin offering."

(Jos 7:19) "Then Joshua said 'My son, pay honor to the L-rd, the G-d of Israel, and make confession to Him."

(Ps 51:14) "The sacrifices to G-d are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart"

(Ps 4:5-6) "Over up sacrifices of Righteousness and trust in the L-rd"

18)If the previous verse were not enough the concept of Teshuvah is explicitly clear in (I Kings 8:46- 52)

you are angry with them and deliver them to the enemy, and their captors carry them off to an enemy land , near or far; and then they take it to heart in the land to which they have been carried off, and they repent and make supplication to you in the land of their captors, saying:" We have sinned, we have acted perversely, we have acted wickedly, and they turn back to You with all their heart and soul, in the land of the enemies who carried them off, and they pray to You in the direction of their land which You gave to their fathers, of the city which you have chosen, and of the house which I have built to Your name. Oh give heed in Your heavenly abode to their prayers and supplications , uphold their cause and pardon Your people who have sinned against You for all transgressions that they have committed against You.
