This year Pesach begins on the
evening of April 20th, after Shabbos. With Shabbos the day before, the order of events this year will be unique. Please refer to our 2008 Pesach Calendar.
As always, this is a
very busy time of year, with
last-minute preperations,
cleaning, and planning. But
Chabad of Austin has you covered. Just as in years
past, this year we will be
hosting seders on the first and
second nights, provide kosher for
passover meals to area students
and residents throughout the
holiday, assist in the selling of
any chometz you might have, and
offer general assistance and
education on the holiday -- its
laws, meaning, and customs --
both before, during, and after
the holiday.
For area students and
residents needing kosher for
Passover meals during the
holiday, or those planning on
attending a seder at Chabad House
this year, please contact the Chabad House at UT. For seder reservations, you may complete the online form. Meals will be served at the new, temporary Chabad House address, 1915 Robbins Place. On Thursday, April 17, the Siyum for the First Born will held immediately following 7:30 am morning services at Chabad Center in Far West.
Also, it is import for all Jews to ensure that any Chometz or Chometz dishes they wish to not destroy (before Peseach) and own after holiday be sold to a non Jew, right before Friday evening. The laws are complicated and are usually assigned to the Rabbi; Rabbi Levertov of Austin
provides this service every year.
Please make certain to fill out
the online form if you cannot
drop by Chabad House or Chabad Center in Far West in person.
