FLE Social Gathering

Purpose: This social gathering comes as a good opportunity for the FLE people to socialize and share stories with one another. The new FLE faculty member, Dr. Diana Pulido, will also join us for this gathering.

Qualifying Exam Q & A

Purpose: In this academic talk, Dr. Horwitz will host a Q&A session on the Qualifying Exam required of all Ph.D. students. This session can allow those who haven't taken the exam to get a better idea about what this exam entails.

Potluck Dinner at Daniel's Place

Purpose: Danial: "I know Sunday's are usually homework days, so it won't be long. Just come by and have some free food, bring a small side (you could even just warm up a can of beans, food's food), maybe chat for 15 minutes or an hour, and get back to them studies."

Brown Bag Lunch Talk

Purpose: Dr. Kelm will present some of his exciting work using blogs and wikis in foreign language teaching.  This will be a great opportunity to see some uses of technology in the classroom.
Note: This is a brown bag talk, so feel free to bring your own lunch.  FLESA will provide drinks.

Back-to-School Gathering

Purpose: This social event is a chance for the new and the returning students to meet each other and have fun.

New Student Orientation
Date: August 19th, 2009
Venue: SZB 330
Schedule: 10 am ~ MA students
12 - 1 pm Luncheon
  1:30 pm ~ PhD students
Purpose:

This orientation serves as an opportunity for new MA and PhD students to get to know more about FLE and meet the GSC (Graduate Studies Committee) members and current students.
