Texas Foreign Language Education Conference

The Texas Foreign Language Education Conference (TexFLEC) was first held in 2000 at the University of Texas at Austin. It aims to be an annual conference that brings together researchers and educators in the fields of foreign language education, TEFL/TESL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language or Second Language), linguistics, and applied linguistics.

TexFLEC also aims to encourage professionalism and research starting at the grass roots. As such, graduate students are encouraged to begin making a contribution to their field by presenting, participating and attending the conference.TexFLEC is hosted by the Foreign Language Education Student Association (FLESA) at the University of Texas (UT) at Austin with support from the Foreign Language Education (FLE) Program.

FLESA is an organization of approximately 100 graduate students in UT's Foreign Language Education Program, which offers M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Foreign Language Education with concentrations in applied linguistics, foreign language teaching, and TEFL/TESL.
