About TexFLEC

The Texas Foreign Language Education Conference (TexFlec) was first held in 2000 at the University of Texas at Austin. It is an annual conference that brings together researchers and educators in the fields of foreign language education, TEFL/TESL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language or Second Language), linguistics, and applied linguistics.

TexFLEC also aims to encourage professionalism and research starting at the grass roots. As such, graduate students are particularly encouraged to begin making a contribution to their field by presenting, participating, and attending the conference. TexFLEC is hosted by the Foreign Language Education Student Association (FLESA) at the University of Texas (UT) at Austin with support from the Foreign Language Education (FLE) Program.
