Global Medical Training was founded in 2001 by Dr. Wil Johnson and Santiago Mora. GMT was created in order to promote sustainable resolutions for underprivileged communities across Central America and Mexico. Dr. Wil Johnson earned his M.D. from the University of Illinois. Santiago Mora is a resident of Costa Rica and Director of the GMT program.
The local Global Medical Training Student Chapter at the University of Texas serves to assist students in preparations for the trips. Members can benefit from GMT-UT through different fundraising activities, orientation workshops, and informational meetings.
Members are asked to participate in general meetings, volunteer events, socials, and workshops. The due requirements are $25 for the semester or $35 for the entire school year (includes GMT t-shirt!).
*Because of the large interest in these trips and the limited number of spots offered, ACTIVE members of the UT chapter will be given first priority for a guaranteed spot on any trip. The remaining seats will then be available for all other members of GMT.
