Costa Rica is Central America's jewel. It's an oasis of calm among its once turbulent neighbors and an ecotourism heaven, making it one of the best places to experience the tropics with minimal impact. It's also mostly coastline, which means great surfing, beaches galore, and a climate built for laziness.
Costa Rica's enlightened approach to conservation has ensured that lush jungles are home to playful monkeys, languid sloths, crocodiles, countless lizards, poison-dart frogs and a mind-boggling assortment of exotic birds, insects and butterflies. Meanwhile, endangered sea turtles nest on both coasts and cloud forests protect elusive birds and jungle cats.
Nicaragua is best known for its stunning landscapes or vast cultural treasures. The after-effects of a long civil war have left the country in a state of shock from which it is gradually emerging.

While Panama is known mostly for its famous canal, the country's natural attractions offer an irresistible lure to far-sighted travelers. This overlooked country offers some of the finest birding, snorkeling, and deep-sea fishing in the Americas. We will visit the province of Bocas del Toro and Bocas Island on the Caribbean side of the country.

Merida, a city of about 1 million people, is a wonderful mixture of colonial city and cosmopolitan destination. With Merida s your base, you can visit cathedrals and churches, Mayan ruins, museums, haciendas and cenotes.
The Yucatan is one of Mexico's most tranquil and safest states, with a climate that resembles that of Florida or Cuba. Yucatecans are good, tranquil, and hospitable people who have strong roots and traditions. They take pride in their city, known as "The White City," not only for the predominance of white limestone as a building material, but because of its streets, plazas, and parks that are cleaned daily.

The Dominican Republic is a colorful tapestry of Spanish, French, Haitian, and African influences woven by a rich and storied history. Christopher Columbus described this lush land as "a beautiful island paradise with high forested mountains and large river valleys". This statement is still as true today as it was in 1492. In addition to the comforts of sun, sea, and sand, the Dominican Republic offers an exciting and unique cultural experience that will captivate your senses.
This is a destination like no other - a sensual feast of dazzling landscapes, exotic cuisine, and a remarkable variety of arts and entertainment options. The pulse-pounding thrill of the merengue, intriguing relics from centuries past, premium cigars, and even world-class baseball await you. The Dominican Republic is a surprising place that will delight even the most experienced traveler.

GMT would like to have it more widely known that our staff is also experienced with designing and leading customized trips to Central America for dental and veterinarian students...both undergrad and graduate levels.
For a broader experience, we can integrate smaller numbers of students into the medical trip groups...with specific dental and veterinarial procedures, similar to how we integrate non health care students into our medical groups. This has proven to enrich the experiences for the entire group.
Either way, we emphasize a hands on, professionally supervised, learning experience combined with a uniquely enlightening international travel / cultural exposure. Contact us by e-mail to start the process, and check out our web site for details.
