GRADUATE STUDENT ASSEMBLY

Co-Chair Candidate

Colleagues,

I am running for co-chair of the Graduate Student Assembly for 2004-2005.
I would appreciate your support.

I have served the past two years as elected Graduate Representative in Student Government and as SG rep in GSA. From this unique perspective I have seen what GSA already accomplishes and the potential for its larger impact on graduate life at UT. Over the past two years I have worked to connect GSA to other organizations on campus to increase our visibility and to better integrate us into the campus community. We have made great progress over that time, and I believe that we can now solidify our place in the minds of UT faculty, staff and students as the effective, relevant voice for graduate students.

I believe that I am an excellent choice to represent GSA at this opportune time. I have been active in UT student life for almost a decade through my undergraduate and graduate studies. I have seen from both sides how graduate students are involved on campus, and I would like to not only protect and improve our benefits, but also increase our academic and social interchange with each other and with the undergraduates and faculty to create a true campus community. While we are all here to get a degree, we should also experience and contribute to the living cultural heritage of campus. It will pay dividends not only for ourselves and our fellow students, but for future Longhorns as well.

I welcome your input and ideas on how to make UT a better place for graduate students. Please contact me anytime at pnav@mail.utexas.edu or call me at 512.796.9020. I look forward to serving you.

Sincerely,

Paul Navratil
