Holi, also known as the Festival of Colors, is a Hindu celebration in the Spring. The festival involves throwing rang, or colored powder, and water balloons at each other. Holi signifies the triumph of good over evil (defeating the demoness Holika). Holi also represents the victory of health over illness because traditional rang is made out of Ayurvedic herbs that can lessen the fevers and colds brought on by the Spring season.

This year, Holi will be held on Sunday, March 23, 2008 on South Mall. We will have lots of rang, water balloons, games, competitions, music, t-shirts, and food! For questions or comments, e-mail our Holi Chair at Prachi@mail.utexas.edu.
