About HSC

Hindu Students Council (HSC) is an organization that focuses on bringing Hindu culture and traditions to college campuses and on developing awareness of Hinduism within communities throughout the country.

The Hindu Students Council Chapter at the University of Texas at Austin was founded in 1991 and is one among a network of over 81 chapters across the world. Additional chapters are being founded every year; recent additions in the Texas region include the University of Texas at both Dallas and Arlington while new global additions include Australia and New Zealand.

Every year the UT Austin chapter holds several free events that are open to the entire university and the surrounding communities. In addition to these events, there are weekly meetings to further explore Sanatana Dharma and to learn what it means to be a Hindu in the midst of the busy college life.

Vision of HSC

  • Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam: The entire creation is one family.
  • Ekam Sat Viprah Bahudha Vadanti: Truth is one, sages call it by various names.
  • Sarve Api Sukhina Santu Sarve Santu Niramayah: Let everybody be happy, healthy, and blessed.

Goals of HSC

  • Provide opportunities to learn about Hindu heritage and culture
  • Foster awareness of issues affecting Hindus
  • Provide SEVA (service) to the community
