Where: Main Mall

Better known as the festival of lights, Diwali is celebrated in Hindu homes all across the globe. It first started as a celebration to welcome home King Ram after his fourteen years of exile. Not only is Diwali a way to celebrate the victory of light and hope over darkness, it is a celebration that the next year will be filled with peace and prosperity. During this time, Hindu families get together and celebrate this auspicious occasion to further strengthen the ties within their families and their bonds to god.
In order to celebrate this holy occassion at UT Austin, we have an acharyaji perform a havan on campus. Furthermore, he goes through great detail on the meaning so people can understand the significance of the hindu scriptures. In the past, HSC has been the only organization to have fireworks go off from the UT tower.
Please help us celebrate this holiday by coming to our FREE Diwali event on October 23. Learn about this Hindu festival of lights and have a great time!
