These earring were most likely made by a Byzantian goldsmith during the Xth century. Similar earrings were found in other collections that are dated at the second half of the century. The signs of wear indicates that they were in use for decades before the burial. The Magyars may have acquired these earrings from Byzantian traders, or as a part of the regular yearly duty of Byzantium between 934-957.
