Exploring Faiths IV: Lutheran Faith
Saturday, April 24, 2004
We
enjoyed our last Exploring Faiths program for this academic year. So far,
IDSA has covered the Judaic, Catholic, and Episcopal faiths. Rev. Craig
Sommer walked us through the brief history of Lutheranism within the context
of Christianity. He touched on certain fundamental concepts such as "grace"
and emphasized its crucial role in salvation.
Rev.
Sommer also underscored the significance of regular daily and/or weekly
prayers in the development of our spiritual lives as well as the importance
of interfaith dialog. During the very lively question and answer session,
Rev. Sommer answered many questions regarding current issues and their
relations to the Lutheran tradition. We then continued our informal conversation
with fellow Lutheran students while enjoying refreshments.
