Panel: Good and Evil in Sacred Texts
Wednesday, March 31, 2004

IDSA, a member of the University Interfaith Council (UIC), co-organized a panel to explore the notion of good and evil in the sacred texts. UIC member groups were present in the panel. Some of the issues discussed were wisdom in the creation of evil, Satan, free will, ego, and the carnal self. Rev. Miles Brandon, the president of UIC, moderated the panel.

Dr. Yetkin Yildirim, faculty interfaith coordinator of the peace and conflict studies clinic, represented the Islamic view.

Hazzan Neil Blumofe of Congregation Agudas Achim explained the Jewish perspective.

Rev. Dr. Cynthia Kittredge, Assistant Professor of New Testament, Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Southwest represented the Christian view.

After the panel, small groups were formed for further discussion.
