Panel: Good and Evil in Sacred Texts

IDSA,
a member of the University Interfaith Council (UIC), co-organized
a panel to explore the notion of good and evil in the sacred texts.
UIC member groups were present in the panel. Some of the issues discussed
were wisdom in the creation of evil, Satan, free will, ego, and the
carnal self. Rev. Miles Brandon, the president of UIC, moderated the
panel. |
Dr.
Yetkin Yildirim, faculty interfaith coordinator of the peace and conflict
studies clinic, represented the Islamic view. |
Hazzan
Neil Blumofe of Congregation Agudas Achim explained the Jewish perspective.

Rev. Dr. Cynthia Kittredge, Assistant Professor of New Testament,
Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Southwest represented the Christian
view. |
After the panel, small groups were formed for further discussion.
