Ramadan, the month of fasting, is at the door or has started as you may read this article. Ramadan has many wisdoms in it, and if you like to learn more about Ramadan, we strongly encorouge you to read our Ramadan article. We will have iftars, fast-breaking dinners, once every week during the month of Ramadan. In order to attend these dinners, you don't have to be Muslim, you don't have to fast, even though we encouroge you to fast one day just to feel what it is like. (On the physical side, fasting is from first light of dawn until sundown, abstaining from food, drink, and sexual relations. On the moral, behavioral side, one must abstain from lying, malicious gossip, quarreling and trivial nonsense.) Here is the iftar schedule: October 30th, Thursday, 6pm The iftars will be held in Texas Union. You can attend as many of these as you like. However, in order to prepare enough food for everybody, we ask you to let us know your coming by contacting us at idsa@www.utexas.edu (or through our online contact form). |
