| The feast of sacrifice (Eid al-Adha) marks the end of holy pilgrimage (the Hajj). Muslims commemorate the prophet Abraham's willingness to sacrifice his son, Ishmael, after God's order as well as God's mercy in sparing Ishmael and replacing him in exchange with a ram. The meat is shared as follows: one-third with the poor; one-third with friends, relatives, neighbors; and one-third to the family itself. | ||
