Student group encourages dialogue about diversity

Tolerance Week, a first time event put on by the Islamic Dialogue Student Association and sponsored by the University Co-Op, started yesterday and will continue through Friday. The three-day event focuses on diversity and tolerance of all people.

"Our organization's motto is 'lack of knowledge is the root cause of intolerance,'" said the IDSA faculty adviser. "This is an educational event because we think education is the motivation to dialogue."

The event will feature conferences, concerts and art displays, but the IDSA faculty adviser said it's not about people sitting and listening to seminars.

"We want people to come together and interact," he said.
