Eid Al-Fitr Prayer Details
September 29th, 2008 07:13
A message from Nueces Masjid:
In the Name of Allah Most Gracious Most Merciful
As-Salam Alaykum
Peace Be To You
By the Grace of Allah, the moon was sighted and confirmed in various countries around the world. Surprisingly, it was doubted that the moon would be seen today. However, the moon and sun are signs of Allah and are in His control and we submit to Allah's infinite wisdom and power over everything. With this, I am pleased to announce on behalf of the Nueces Mosque EC that Eid will be on Tuesday September 30, 2008. Please refer to www.austinmosque.org for exact Eid Salat site location. Due to the parking limitations, please download this pdf for specific times and parking directives.
I wish a joyous, blessed and safe 'Eid holiday to all the students and their families here at UT and the greater community at large. Just as how sad we are for the passing of Ramadan, we hope that Allah accepts our fast and prayers for the month of Ramadan and gives us the blessing in continuing the good deeds after Ramadan.
Finally, please do make a personal commitment to participate in our weekly Nueces Educational Activities that are on going after Ramadan. Please refer to www.nuecesmosque.com for details and exact timings. We look forward to seeing you on a frequent basis at Nueces Mosque.

If you need a ride to the Eid prayer at the Manor Masjid:
Brothers will meet at Nueces Mosque at 8 am. If you arrive later then that, all the cars might be gone and you won't be guaranteed a ride. If you have any questions, please call Asad at 662-380-1443.
Sisters, we're still working on finding rides. If you can drive, please contact Sabina at 832-878-7786. If we find enough rides, then we will keep you posted through the UT MSA Sisters' Facebook group and send an email to the UT MSA SISTERS' listserv.

HOW WE PRAY AND WHAT WE SAY
September 17th, 2008 05:07
Muslims across the world pray five times a day, every day. Prayer in Islam is distinct and different from the forms of prayer in other religions.
Have you ever seen a Muslim pray and wondered what all of the motions and recitations meant?
Come learn from our very own Sheikh Islam Mossad about how we pray and what we say, and why we pray that way.
Sheikh Islam is an Austin native who graduated from UT and is now the leader of the largest mosque in Austin.

This is going to be an exciting get-together with our brothers and sisters! Let's all share a suhr/sehri meal together with our friends and family this Ramadhan, insha Allah! Open invitation to everyone - and no MYNA is not footing the bill! :)

We can have our meal at Dimassi's, pray fajr altogether at the masjid, recite some Qur'an and head home from there!
Just a quick reminder on the 5 important sunnahs for fasting that will help ensure that it is accepted by our Lord:
1) To partake of sehri/suhr or pre-dawn meal
2) To break fast immediately after dawn
3) To read taraweeh prayers at night
4) To feed the hungry and poor
5) To increase the Qur'an reading
May Allah (swt) give us the ability to put these sunnahs into practice during this blessed month of Ramadhan! Ameen! |
