What is it?

Project Mali is a Muslim Students' Association initiative to sponsor orphans throughout the year in Mali through Islamic Relief. Mali will be served through its younger generation in the future, and therefore, it is important that we direct our resources in their cause- towards their healthcare and education. In order to carry out this commitment, the Muslim Students Association will sponsor four orphans for a one year period which will take care of their medical and educational needs. We strongly believe in the importance of reaching out to other communities around the world and making a small, but very important contribution to the global community.

Why Mali ?

Mali is among the World's poorest nations on top of which it has recently experienced a massive drought that has exhausted food stocks around the country and has left the people of Mali vulnerable and dependent on foreign aid. Yet, all of these aid programs are directed towards giving food- simply keeping the population alive. They are not directed towards the enhancement of these peoples' lives through medical care or increasing educational opportunities. We, the Muslim Students Association at the University of Texas , would like to take a step towards correcting this issue.

What can I do?

The Muslim Students' Association truly believes that the University of Texas student body, the Austin Community, and most importantly, members of the Muslim Students' Association can make an enormous difference in even a few lives of those that are in desperate need of it in Mali .

It simply takes a dollar a day, or $32 to sponsor a child for an entire month.

To sponsor a child for a full year, it costs $395.

So skip that morning coffee, or spend $5 less on your groceries, but please help in the basic needs of an orphan. It all starts with you.
