Leadership

Orange Jackets are selected for their commitment to leadership. Orange Jackets hold officer positions in organizations in all areas of campus, including: Orange Jackets also show their leadership skills in ways outside of campus organizations. Orange Jackets start their own businesses, start non-profit organizations, as well as work and serve in both.

Hosting

The role of the organization as the hosts of the University has remained constant since 1923. Hosting is one of the ways Orange Jackets give back to the University and community as well as promote women’s issues and school pride. It is an honor, and traditionally has never been a requirement for members. Members are visible in their vests and help ensure events run smoothly.

This semester, Orange Jackets have hosted at a variety of functions:
  • Presidential Receptions before each home football game
  • “Women in Israeli Politics” with speaker Einat Wilf
  • Hispanic Business Students’ Association's “Main Mall Madness”
  • Big XII Athletics Conference
  • Get Real: Eating Disorder Awareness Week
  • Austin conference for Leadership Texas
  • The Austin Film Society annual Film Awards
  • Watergate Panel with Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein
  • Blanton Museum of Art


Field Privileges

Orange Jackets are also a presence at athletic events. Members have the privilege of leading the "Eyes of Texas" 0n the football field at the start of each home game.
