AIDS Week - Who Gives a Buck?

Although AIDS is a treatable and preventable disease, more than 33 million people are affected and more than 1.9 million died from AIDS-related causes last year.

Every spring semester, Omega Phi Alpha hosts a service week to raise awareness and
funds for HIV/AIDS. This year will be our fifth annual AIDS Week. Throughout the week, the sisters of OPA hold various events around campus. At the beginning of the week, a kick-off rally is held to educate the UT community about the epidemic through flyers, posters, games, and other activities. AIDS Week also includes a fundraiser at a restaurant to support the cause, as well as a service project. The last night consists of a game night where other organizations form teams and compete in the game "Don't Forget the Lyrics."

All the proceeds from the week’s events and donations will be given to Keep A Child Alive, a non-profit organization that provide life-saving retroviral treatment, food, and support to children and families affected by the AIDS epidemic in Africa and India.
