Nritya Sangam was founded in the Spring of 2001 to bring together Indian dancers from different styles. The troupe members are all trained in Bharata Natyam, and many of the dancers are also trained in other classical dance forms such as Kathak, Kuchipudi, and Odissi. The troupe performs traditional Indian dance pieces passed down by their gurus, as well as contemporary pieces choreographed by the troupe members. Each semester Nritya Sangam performs a show at the Clay Pit restaurant to raise money for a non-profit organization. They have rasied over $4000 thus far to help such organizations as Capital Area Food Bank and Saheli.
