Pagan Connections in the Austin, Texas Area
(With Web Links)

Pan and DaphnisPagan Alliance of Central Texas
A regional organization that is popular among pagans here in the Austin, Texas area. PACT puts on the Witches' Ball at Samhain each year. Other activities include public education, teacher-student resource bank covering most of Central Texas, two camp outs a year, and more. Most activities, except camp outs, are for members only; membership by application. Web Site: http://www.paganalliance.org/

Council of Magickal Arts
This seems to be the most popular organization for pagan activities in the area. This nonprofit has an Austin branch and others in central Texas. Their Beltane and Samhain celebrations are reputed to be outstanding good times each year. You have to join to participate; 18 years old and $17 per year. CMA has a web site at http://www.magickal-arts.org/. They also publish a paper journal, Accord, available at Book People and other pagan-friendly newsstands.

Austin Pagan Pride Day 2000
This will be an event for all Austin Pagans, on September 16th at the Vortex. The web site is at http://www.austinpaganpride.f2s.com/. We've recently received a special annoucement from Trickster:

We're planning a big Pagan performance party at Rock Island in Zilker Park after the show at the Vortex. Kind of a cross between Eeyore's and Burning Man. Wear costumes, set up alters, dress as your favorite god or goddess, read poetry, perform skits and guerilla theater, play instruments, dance, drum, chant, sing, topless witch parade, make a big Pagan float and drive it around the park, anything people can think of to amuse their fellow Pagani. Please help spread the word. Everyone's invited to participate, no charge to get in. We'd like it to be as big as Eeyore's someday and this is the first go around. So tell everyone you know and help us make Pagan Day a huge fun success!!

Texas Celtic
This organization comprises a music network and the Austin Celtic Association, the latter with monthly meetings and an annual festival (17-18 October this year). One should keep in mind that many people interested in Celtic music and/or Celtic culture are non-pagans, probably including many people associated with these groups.
