Wicca / Witchcraft, Theory and Practice
-
Scott Cunningham. Wicca for the Solitary Practioner;
Magical
Herbs.
-
I would suggest several of Cunningham's books, such as Solitary Wicca
and Magical Herbs... They are great for beginners. -- Staci
-
[re Solitary:] A primer of Wicca, if you will; more down-to-earth
than Starhawk and written in a less formal style. -- Richard
-
Ann Moura. Green Witchcraft.
-
Unlike any book I've seen before. A path based in herbalism and folk and
fairy lore. Aimed toward solitary practice, but has notes for coven use.
Great for those of us who are gardeners and herbalist! -- Staci
-
Starhawk. The Spiral Dance.
-
Recommended by Jo.
-
Widely considered the definitive book on Goddess-centered spirituality.
-- Richard
Thelema (Crowley et al.)
-
Gerald Del Campo. New Aeon Magick; Thelema Without
Tears.
-
A great introductory work with lots of explanations, examples and ritual
descriptions. -- Robert
-
Aleister Crowley. Liber al Legis or Book of the
Law.
-
Goes without saying. The sine qua non of Thelema. --Robert
-
Aleister Crowley. Magick in Theory and Practice.
-
To Mega Therion's own guide and philosophical framework for Thelema. If
you read nothing else of scholarly import on Thelema, it should be this.
-- Robert
-
Lon Milo Duquette. The Magick of Thelema: A Handbook of
the Rituals of Aleister Crowley.
-
Another very good introductory work, somewhat more detailed and pedantic
than Del Campo, explaining Thelema ritual and dogma. -- Robert
Egyptian Religion
-
R.T. Rundle Clark. Myth and Symbol in Ancient Egypt.
-
A book containing the predominant tales of Osiris, Isis, and Horas. Basic
principles of Eygptian faith and explanations of lesser Gods. Explains
connections between earlier gods and those (as listed above) we are more
familiar with. Contains chart of basic hyroglyphs. -- Staci
-
Murry Hope. Practical Egyptian Magic.
-
I found this to be a good look at the Egyptian faith from a Wiccan perspective.
(Hope that makes sense.) Simple everyday spells, uses of the pyramid and
ankh, and an explanation of other magical symbols for this path. -- Staci
Eastern Religion and Philosophy
-
Lao Tsu. Tao Te Ching.
-

-
Longchen Rabjam. The Practice of Dzogchen.
Snow Lion Publications.

Sogyal Rinpoche. The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying.
Harper Collins.

-
[unknkown ancient Chinese]. I Ching.
-
A fortune-telling or advice system, comparable to the Tarot, but more succinct.
Several editions available; the "New Translation for Modern Times by Sam
Reifler" has always worked for me. --Steve
Misc. Pagan Theory and Practice
(multiple categories or not sure where to put them)
-
Donald Michael Kraig. Modern Magick.
-
Broader in scope than the title suggests; this book is an introduction
to numerous philosophies and practices, including the "Hermetic Qabala".
-- Richard

Starhawk. Truth or Dare. Harper Collins.
-
Recommended by Joey.
-
Ly Warren-Clarke. The Way of the Goddess. Prisim
