Music Night
We would like to invite you to the PSS Multicultural Music Night event including Traditional Persian music and European Classical music.

No tickets are required for this event; however we highly encourage the members to RSVP on the Facebook page in advance.

Persian New Year Celebration
Persian Students Society (PSS) is proud to celebrate The Persian New Year, Norooz, at UT Austin on Sunday March the 20th.
Traditional treats (Aajil and sweets) in addition to dinner (SabziPolo + Mahi/Chicken) will be served.
Thickets will be available on the day of event for $15. ...20% discounted tickets (12$) will be sold by Ali Jalali in JP's Java (2803 San Jacinto Boulevard Austin, TX 78705) on the following two days: Tuesday (03/15) (9 am - 5 pm) Thursday (03/17) (9 am - 5 pm) We highly encourage the members to get the discounted tickets; this will let us have a better estimation of number of attendees. Please contact the board members, if you are interested to give us a hand for this event and very importantly please RSVP if you plan to attend.

Yalda Night
Dear PSS Members, Join us in a night of excitement with celebrating the longest night of the year, Yalda. In this event, different traditional treats will be served such as watermelon, nuts, etc. You can also bring your favorite games such as cards and boards.
If you need ride to the event, please contact the board.

Poetry Night
We are getting together this Friday for the Poetry Night of Persian Student Society.
This will be an open microphone event. We invite readers and musicians to come and read or perform their own work or recite works by others. Works can be in Persian or English, bearing some connection to Iran or Iranian/Persian culture however, let's keep the majority of the poems from the new generation of Iranian poets.
Thanks to Ali Jalali for coordinating the event and to Setareh Nematollahi and Babak Fallah for their contribution by playing music.

We will get together for the first book club meeting on October 6th. In this session, we will discuss the One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel García Márquez. You can find this book in UT library in English and in "Ghafaseh" website in Farsi.

Resource Curse
This time we are pleased to announce a lecture entitled "Resource Curse" by Hamed Ghoddusi, PhD Student at Vienna Graduate School of Finance, and Mohammad Morovati, PhD student of Economics at University of Texas at Austin.
Including some empirical evidences, the lecture focuses on the conflicts natural resources are linked to, both directly and indirectly, in their relationship with economic growth.
