The UT Sailing Team is a nationally competitive sailing team based at Austin Yacht Club on Lake Travis. The team is a club sport under the Recreational Sports Dept. at UT-Austin. We sail all year round, practicing during the week and traveling to competitions on the weekends. We travel extensively all around the country, Seattle, Los Angeles, New York, Charelston, Annapolis and New Orelans, these are are some of the locations we have traveled to in the past. Most of our traveling is done in our district, SEISA.
SEISA is a district of the ICSA, the national governing body for collegiate sailing. Our district includes Texas, Louisianna, Western Florida, Oklahoma and Kansas. Events are hosted at various schools around the district. UT host two event each year, the UT Spring Regatta and the Kathryn Hammon Memorial Regatta.
The team practices twice a week Tuesday and Thursday, at AYC. We have meetings Monday nights on campus, 8:00 in Parlin Hall room #103. We practice in collegiate FJs purchased from Vanguard Sailboats in '97. FJs are a two person boats which are very maneuverable and promote very tactical sailing. We also sail in collegiate 420s which many of the other schools in our district own. If you are interested in joining, please contact Brett Biba .
